Strumming
There is no strumming pattern for this song yet. and get +5 IQ
This is a fairly simple song embellished by chord voicings. Sometimes the
subtlety in the voicing is difficult to make out in the recording. What I've
listed as an Asus could be a Dsus2, for example, or the other way around. In
addition, the songwriter keeps it fresh by changing up the patterns so
they're not consistent throughout. That's most evident in the bass line,
which moves on different measures from verse to verse.

Capo: 1

Song starts with a Bb chord on the keys. Chart begins at the Mandolin entrance . . .

| A | Dmaj7 | A | Amaj7 | A | D Dmaj7 D6 A |
                                         It's been
|A |Asus |A |Asus
Ten years on this pavement and I finally caught a dream
       |D2 |D2/B D2/E |A . . A2 A | Asus |
 If I'm honest it's a terrifying thing
              |A |Asus |A/F# |Asus/E
'Cause I feel crazy taking pictures, hear a thousand people scream
          |D2 |D2/B D2/E |A . . A2 A | Asus |
This is a lot for an Oklahoma kid like me

         |A |Asus |A/F# |Asus/E
Chase me down outside of Georgia. I was sure that I was done
          |D2 |D2/B D2/E |A . . A2 A | Asus |
Something in me would not turn around and run
            |A |D2 |A/F# |Asus/E
I heard the Lord in California. I remembered who I was and I
           |D2 |D2/B (punch on one, then off)
Learned to dance with the fear that I'd been running from

 | A . . A2 A | Asus | A . . A2 A | Asus |

              |A |Asus |A/F# |Asus/E
And I've been scared to death of failing. Scared that I'd look like a fool
        |D2 |D2/B D2/E |A . . A2 A | Asus |
And I'd rather quit than risk that I could lose
            |A |Asus/F# |A/E |D2
Now I'm not proud of that position, but it's the hand that I've been dealt
              |D2 |D2/B D2/E |A . . A2 A | A |
And as far as I'm concerned that hand can go to hell

         |A |Asus |A/F# |Asus/E
Chase me down outside of Georgia. I was sure that I was done
          |D2 |D2/B D2/E |A . . A2 A | Asus |
Something in me would not turn around and run
          |A |Asus |A/F# |Asus/E
Heard the Lord in California. I remembered who I was and I
           |D2 |D2/B D2/E |
Learned to dance with the fear that I'd been running from

 | A . . A2 A | Asus | A . . A2 A | Asus |

    |A |Asus |A |Asus |
No, I won't run away. (Oh oh, oh oh)
    |A |Asus |A |Asus |
No, I am not afraid. (Oh oh, oh oh)

      |A |Asus |A/F# |Asus/E
I was down outside of Georgia, so sure that I was done
    |D2 |D2/B D2/E |A . . A2 A | Asus |
But something in me would not turn around and run
          |A |Asus |A/F# |Asus/E
Heard the Lord in California. I remembered who I was and I
           |D2 |D2/B D2/E |
Learned to dance — with the fear that I'd been
 | A . . A2 A | Asus | A . . A2 A | Asus |
   . Running from
           |D2 |D2/B D2/E |A <> |
Learned to dance with the fear that I'd been running from

Charted for my daughter by Dexex

I write chord charts to show how, as a rhythm guitarist, I play songs.
I don't claim they are the "right" way. They're not intended to be taken
as tabs - which notate exactly how a song was played on a recording.
