Billy Bragg - The Milkman Of Human Kindness

album:Life's A Riot With Spy Vs.Spy

Just seen Billy play this at the Glastonbury Festival
He used a capo at the 7th fret.

The main riff used during the intro and verses is only two chords,G
and Eminor.

Play a G Then the Em
and immediately add with this:
this little riff:
Intro:G Em as above
G Em
If you're lonely,I will call
G Em
If you're poorly,I will send poetry
G D
I love you
G F# Em
I am the milkman of human kindness,
       C G
I will leave an extra pint
If you are sleeping,I will wait
If your bed is wet,I will dry your tears
D Em C Em G
Hold my hand for me,I'm waking up
D Em C Em G
Hold my hand for me,i'm waking up
D Em C Em G
Would you hold my hand,i'm making up
D Em C G D
Hold my hand for me,i'm waking up
If you are falling,I will put out my hand
If you feel bitter,I will understand
    G F# Em C G

This is a great tab. Some of your notation is a little confusing. What you call an F# in the chorus and at the end is actually a kind of D, or would be if there wasn't a capo on. Also, the two '1's in the tab look like an 11. But an excellent tab all the same

Yeah, this is actually pretty close, definitely better than 3 stars.

F# should be D/F# (200232) - although you don't really hit the high strings.

In the intro and verses it doesn't stay on Em; the pattern is G/G/Em/G.

The notation on the tab for the riffs is a bit confusing (11 looks like 'eleven' but it's really -1-1-). Also, the Em riff is missing a '2' on the G string on the way down (apparently Billy plays it all on the G string: -5-4-2-0-).

I'm embarrassed to say I've been playing this song poorly for 25 years and it never occurred to me to use a capo. It makes things a lot easier!
