So, when you say "riff", and the verse part, do you repeat the whole chord progression of the chorus, or just stay at Em?

For the "riff" part, I actually play the single notes of the main riff (which is still loosely based on Em notes). Even with a single guitar, you can switch between the chords and the main riff and make it sound nice. The riff actually goes on during the main verse ("An angel's smile..."), but it's up to you if you want to play that over the vocals or not. But to answer your question - the riff notation doesn't imply repeating the other chords in the sequence. If it's still not clear, I can update.
