Artist: Brandi Carlile
Song: That year
Capo: 9
(Brandi plays this song by holding a G (verses) and moving the long finger and
index down on the strings from there. See for youself how she plays it by watching it on YouTube)

[Intro]
G D Em C

[Verse]
               G
Must have been sleeping
               D/F#
Must have been drinking
               Em
Haven't been dreaming about you
    C
for years
            G
There was a sharp turn
          D/F#
and a sun burn
          Em
I was too cool for
   C G D/F# Em C
high school that year

[Chorus]
Must have been new years
no one invited you
you took things too far
but I missed you
and your antics
you were lonesome
blue eyed and
so special to us

[Bridge]
G D/F# Em C C/H

[Verse]
Am G C
You should have taken a long break
             G D
insted of a long drop from a high place
Am G C G
Ten years I never spoke of your name, now it feels
                D G D/F# Em C
good to say it, you're my friend again

[Chorus]
He said he forgave you
I said I hated you
He was the bigger man
I was sixteen
All the innocence
it took for
you to finally make your yearbook
that year

[Bridge]
G D/F# Em C

[Verse]
Am G C
You could have taken some time away
             G D
insted of a long drop, instead of a leap of faith
Am G C G
Ten years I never spoke of your name, now it feels
                D G D Em C
good to say it, you're my friend again you're my friend again

[Bridge]
G D Em C

I was angry
I was a baptist
I was a daugther
I was wrong

it does not sound right with the D after the G. I also watched a live performance on youtube and it does not look like she uses D anywhere in this performance. I am not a really good guitar player but just wondered if anyone knows what she uses?

I am having a heck of a time figuring out the picking pattern by watching her live performances. If anyone has figure it how could you post it?

p.s. I agree these chords don't seem to follow what she plays, along sounds ok.
