This song is CAPO 4(C) but can be played in other places like Capo 2 (D).
This song can easily be transposed into other keys so if you want to try this in a
different key the do.

Capo 4.

   C (1st) D7 (2nd) E (3rd) F (4th) G (5th) Am (6th) B/C A#7 C#7

C E Am F G C, C E Am D7 G

[Verse 1]

C E Am
This is the first day of my life
      F G C
I swear I was born right in the doorway
                      E Am
I went out in the rain suddenly everything changed, they're spreading
   D7 G
   blankets on the beach
C E Am
Yours is the first face that I saw
     F G C
I think I was blind before I met you
                            E Am
   Now I don’t know where I am I don’t know where I’ve been
               D7 G
But I know where I want to go

             C G Am
And so I thought I’d let you know
          F G
    That these things take forever
      C B/C Am
    I especially am slow
But I realize that I need you
And I wondered if I could come home
    C E Am A#7 C#7

[Verse 2]

    C E Am
Remember the time you drove all night
    F G C
Just to meet me in the morning
    C E Am
And I thought it was strange you said everything changed
             D7 G
You felt as if you'd just woke up
                  C E Am
And you said “this is the first day of my life
        F G C
    I’m glad I didn’t die before I met you
                    E Am
But now I don’t care I could go anywhere with you
            D7 G
    And I’d probably be happy”

              C G Am
So if you want to be with me
          F G
With these things there’s no telling
            C B/C Am
We just have to wait and see
But I’d rather be working for a pay check
                                 C E Am
Than waiting to win the lottery
Besides maybe this time is different

I mean I really think you like me

    C E Am A#7 C#7 C

one would notice that your 'g' is weird and sheer curiousity caused me to try it, it sounds pretty bad.
