[Intro]
G C Am Am7 Am G Am G

[Verse 1]
          G Am G
Played a party last night for some old folks,
           C G
They were dancing and smiling at me,
          G Am Em
Saw this old man alone at a table,
               A Am Am7 Am
As if there's someplace that he'd rather be,
           G Am G
So I said Sir can I play something for you?
            C G
Something special that you'd like to hear?
         G Am Em
When he looked up at me he was smiling,
         A Am Am7
But his eye's couldn't hide all the tears,

[Chorus]
         G Am C
He said play me the waltz of the Angels,
     G Am Am7
And I'll close my eyes and pretend,
  G Am C
Play me the waltz of the Angels,
   G Am G
So I can dance with my Angel again.

[Interlude]
G Am G C G
G Am Em A Am Am7 Am

[Verse 2]
          G Am G
He said “yes that's a song I remember,
            C G
That's the one that she loved the best,
         G Am Em
It was played the night that I met her,
         A Am Am7 Am
It was played when we laid her to rest,

[Chorus]
    G Am G
So play me the Waltz of the Angels,
     G Am Am7
And I'll close my eyes and pretend,
 G Am C
Play me the Waltz of the Angels,
   G Am G
So I can dance with my Angel again,

[Outro]
          G Am C G
So I can dance with my Angel again.

This song has been performed by a lot of other artists who have used many different keys. I see this frequently played with a capo on the 3rd fret, especially with a female singer. On the very last line I like to strum once slowly each on the G and the Am, then VERY SLOWLY on the C sounding out each string independently, and then slowly again on the last G.
