God is good! =D
This song is played with a capo 3.
If you do not have a capo, up it 3 half steps.
This is pretty accurate (about 90%), but any corrections are welcome.
The chords in the passage part repeat all over the song, between the other parts.
Sorry about the organization of the chords in the lyrics. The text editor didn't help. =D

The chords are (positions relative to the capo):

         Bm D* C Em7 G D
(e) ----- 2 -------- 2 -------- 0 -------- 0 -------- 2 -------- 2 ----
(B) ----- 3 -------- 3 -------- 2 -------- 3 -------- 2 -------- 3 ----
(G) ----- 4 -------- 2 -------- 2 -------- 0 -------- 0 -------- 2 ----
(D) ----- 4 -------- 4 -------- 2 -------- 2 -------- 0 -------- 0 ----
(A) ----- 2 -------- 5--------- 0 -------- 2 -------- 3 -------- X ----
(E) ----- X -------- X -------- X -------- 0 -------- 2 -------- X ----

The introduction and the verses go like this:

(e) -----------2-----------2----------0---------------------------------|
(B) --------3------------3---------2---2-----------------3-------3------|
(G) ---- 4-- ---------2----------2-------2-------------0-------0--------|
(D) -------------------------------------------------2-------2----------|
(A) --2 ----------5-----------0-----------------------------------------|
(E) ----------------------------------------------0---------------------|

Verse 1:

Bm D*
Did you hear of the city on the hill?
C Em7
Said one old man to the other
Bm D*
It once shined bright and it would be shining still
C Em7
But they all started turning on each other

Verse 2:

Bm D*
You see, the poets thought the dancers were shallow
C Em7
And the soldiers thought the poets were weak
Bm D*
And the elders saw the young ones as foolish
C Em7
And the rich man never heard the poor man speak

Chorus:

G
And one by one
D
They ran away
C
With their made up minds
Em7
To leave it all behind
G D
And the light began to fade
C
In the city on the hill
C
The city on the hill

Verse 3:

Bm D*
Each one thought that they knew better
C Em7
That they were different by design
Bm D*
Instead of standing strong together
C Em7
They let their differences divide

Chorus:

G
And one by one
D
They ran away
C
With their made up minds
Em7
To leave it all behind
G D
And the light began to fade
C
In the city on the hill
C
The city on the hill
Passage:

Bm D* C Em7
And the world is searching still
Bm D* C

Bridge:

G
But it was the rhythm of the dancers
That gave the poets life
D
It was the spirit of the poets
C
That gave the soldiers strength to fight
G
It was the fire of the young ones
Bm
It was the wisdom of the old
C
It was the story of the poor man
That needed to be told

Ending:

Bm D*	C
                Come home
Em7
And the Father's calling still
Bm	D*	C
                Come home
Em7
To the city on the hill
Bm	D*	C
                Come home

If you look at it, it is a C, third fret 5th string is a C

he has the "right chord" its just not reltave to the capo

NolanWade is right. The C's should be A's. However, the rest of it is great. Good job!
