No Particular Place To Go:Chuck Berry.
#10 in 1964.

#1.
G
Ridin' along in my automobile, my baby beside

me at the wheel.
                                C
I stole a kiss at the turn of a mile,
                     G
my curiosity runnin' wild.
                             D
Cruisin' and playin' the radio..
                            G
with no particular place to go.

#2.
G
Ridin' along in my automobile, I was anxious to

tell her the way I feel.
                             C
So, I told her softly and sincere,
                                   G
and she leaned and whispered in my ear.
                          D
Cuddlin' more and drivin' slow..
                            G
with no particular place to go.

(INTERLUDE:) G C D

#3.
G
No particular place to go, so we parked way out

on the Kokomo.
                                     C
The night was young and the moon was gold.
                              G
So, we both decided to take a stroll.
                          D
Can you imagine the way I felt?
                               G
I couldn't unfasten her safety belt.

#4.
G
Ridin' along in my calaboose..still tryin' to

get her belt unloose.
                          C
All the way home I held a grudge..
                                  G
but the safety belt just wouldn't budge.
                             D
Cruisin' and playin' the radio.
                            G
With no particular place to go.

A sixties smash from Kraziekhat.

To sound more authentic*, try the following voicings:

D+: x x 0 3 3 2

G: 3 5 5 4 3 3
C: 3 x 2 3 3 3
D: 5 x 4 5 5 5

That "C" voicing can be named a lot of ways, like Gm6 or Em7b5/G, but if ya wanna get technical here it would be best called a "C9/G (no root)" because it functions like a C7. Likewise with the "D". A great substitute chord used all the time in jazz/blues/rockabilly.

Also, in bar 4 of each 12 bar phrase (between "wheel" & "I", etc.), a G7 keeps the song moving a little better:

G7: 3 5 3 4 6 3 -or- 3 5 3 4 3 3

* That "more authentic" is my opinion; I didn't stare at old videos for days figuring out how Chuck & the boys actually played it. As always, YMMV.
