C Am
Just got home from Illinois, lock the front door, oh boy!

Doo, doo, doo, Looking out my back door

C
There's a giant doing cartwheels

A statue wearing high heels
F C G
Look at all the happy creatures dancing on the lawn

Won't you take a ride on the flying spoon? Doo, doo doo

Wond'rous apparition provided by magician.

Won't you take a ride on the flying spoon? Doo, doo doo
C Am
Bother me tomorrow, today, I'll buy no sorrows
F C G C
Doo, doo, doo, Looking out my back door

C Am
Forward troubles Illinois, lock the front door, oh boy!

I think the lyrics should read mem´ries of an Elephant instead of tambourines and elephants. Elephant memory is a band from New York and maybe they played with ccr once.

I watched several videos of CCR performing this song and John, without a doubt, says tambourines.
