vs
       C# F# C#
He was working through collage
                G# C#
On my grandpa’s farm.
                    F# C#
I was thirsting for knowledge
    C# G#
And he had a car,

Br1
     C# F#
Yeah…I was caught somewhere between a womman and a child
C# F#
One restless summer we found love growing wild
       G# F#
On the banks of the river on a well beaten path
    G# F#
Its funny how those memories they last!

Ch
                C# G#
Like strawberry wine… seven-teen
             A#m F#
The hot July moon saw every-thing
                  C# G#
My first taste of love, was bitter-sweet
                 A#m F# C#
The green on the vine, like strawberry wine

vs
I still remember, when thirty was old
My biggest fear was September, when he had to go

A few cards and letters and one long distance call
we drifted away like the leaves in the fall
But year after year I cone back to this place
Just to remember the taste!

Ch
Of strawberry wine… seven-teen
The hot July moon saw everything
My first taste of love, was bitter-sweet
The green on the vine, like strawberry wine

Br2
    D#m
The fields have grown over now
D#m
years since they’ve seen the plows
D#m
There’s nothing time hasn’t touched
A#m C#
is it really him? Or the lose of my innocence
G# C#
I’ve been missing so much yea-eah…

Ch
Strawberry wine… seven-teen
The hot July moon saw everything
My first taste of love, was bitter-sweet
The green on the vine, like strawberry wine

Solo- strawberry wine…yeah… strawberry wine… oh…

You're probably a guitar "purist" and don't believe in capos, but seriously, most people won't play this song in C#.

I went with capo 4, which makes (relative to the capo):

C# = A
F# = D
G# = E
A#m = F#m
D#m = Bm

I for one am a big fan of trying to play without a capo because possibilities and licks build up on the guitar over time allowing for more fluency up and down the neck, as well as a more complete "feel" for musical movement.

That said the ultra-standard generic G D Em C progression works great on capo 6 for this too.
