D# C
the clanking of crystal
D# C G# Bb G# D#
explosions off in the distance (in the distance).

D# C
so this is the new year
D# C
and I have no resolutions
D# C
for self-assigned penance
D# C
for problems with easy solutions

D#

G#
so everybody put your best suit or dress on
Bb
let's make believe that we are wealthy for just this once
G#
lighting firecrackers off on the front lawn
Bb
as thirty dialogues bleed into one

G#
I wish the world was flat like the old days
Bb
then I could travel just by folding a map
G#
no more airplanes, or speedtrains, or freeways
Bb
there'd be no distance that can hold us back.

G#
Bb
there'd be no distance that could hold us back
C
there'd be no distance that could hold us back
D#
there'd be no distance that could hold us back

G# Bb C D#

D# Cm
so this is the new year (x4)

Whoever rated this a 1 is an idiot. It's right. Obviously you forgot to make all those C's C minors, but if someone is incapable of realizing that, they don't have any business rating tabs.

However, while the chord progression is right, the chords themselves aren't just regular major and minor chords.

The Eb is actually Ebsus2 and the Cm is actually Cmadd11.

You can play them like this:

Ebsus2 x6886x
Cmadd11 8x886x

The Ab and Bb in the chorus part have some other notes in them too that I'm too lazy to explain.

Transpose it down 3 half steps then put a capo on 3 and all you have are C, Am, F, and G.
