Intro: G -> D -> A -> D -> A

                 D
It was Christmas Eve babe
        G
In the drunk tank
            D
An old man said to me,
           A
"Won't see another one"
             D
And then he sang a song
               G
'The Rare Old Mountain Dew'
             D
I turned my face away
             A D A
And dreamed about you
          D
Got on a lucky one
            G
Came in eighteen to one
            D
I had a feeling
               A
That year was for me and you
            D
Said Happy Christmas
           G
I love you baby
             D
I can see a better time
        G A D
When all our dreams come true

--------------------------------
G, D(hammer on), A, D, A, Bm, G,
D, A, D, A, D, G, D, A, D
--------------------------------

D A
They've got cars big as bars
              Bm G
They've got rivers of gold
       D
But the wind blows right through you
                      A
It's no place for the old
       D A
When I first took your hand
         D G
All your fingers were blue
       D
But I promised you
              A D
Broadway was waiting for you
                          A
I was handsome, you were pretty
      D A
Queen of New York City
          D G
When the band finished playing
      A D
They howled out for more
             A
Sinatra was swinging,
         D A
All the drunks they were singing
    D G
We kissed on a corner
      A D
Then danced through the night

   G
The boys of the NYPD choir
      D Bm
Were singing "Galway Bay"
         D G A
And the bells were ringing out
                D
For Christmas day

-----------------------
D, A, D, G, D, G, A, D
-----------------------

D A
The apartment was cluttered
        D A
And it smelled like the gutter
          D G
Where My sad broken promises
 A D
lay with the trash
                   A
Every cold dreary night
         D G
We'd end up in a fight
         D G
And I'd pray as you'd yell
        A D
That a train'd rattle past
        G
And the boys of the NYPD choir
       D Bm
still singing "Galway Bay"
         D G A
And the bells were ringing out
                 D
For Christmas day

-----------
D, G, D, A
-----------
              D
I could have been someone
               G
Said so could anyone
                  D
That I took your dreams from you
                A
When you first found me
             D
I kept them with me babe
            G
I put them with my own
             D
Can't make it all alone
              G A D A
I've built my dreams around you
             D
Its Christmas Eve again
        G
In the drunk tank
        D
I'm an old man now
             A
I won't see another one
         D
So I'll sing a song
               G
And sleep when I am through
          D
Dream of another life
       G A D
Where all our dreams came true.

These words are wrong. Why do you make up your own and try and pass them off as the original?

@hcpre You do realize this is a cover version, not the original, right? One verse was modified from the original. These are the correct lyrics.
