From the videos I've found on Youtube he appears to be playing in an open tuning.
This is what I found worked with the studio version. Hope you enjoy!

[Intro]
G

[Verse]
          C G
Across the sea
       C G
By the Tennessee skyline
       C G
They told me I’d find my
D G
Hopes and my dreams

          C G
But I long to be
       C G
In the bed of my true love
       C G
Back where I came from
D G
She’s waiting for me

[Chorus]
     G C D
So I make my way
        D Em C G
Through long winding country roads
       G D Em
But my heart still beats
       C D G
For my home and my English rose

[Verse]
          C G
I told my dad
       C G
On the phone it’s amazing
       C G
From the straight to the crazy
   D G
These places I’ve seen

          C G
But I long to be
       C G
In the arms of my true love
       C G
Like he loves my mother
   D G
He understands me

[Chorus]
      G C D
And I spend my days
     D Em C G
Just traveling and playing shows
       G D Em
And my heart still beats
       C D G
For my home and my English rose

C D G

[Verse]
          C G
I met a man
       C G
In the bar down in Manford
       C G
And he told me he went there
   D G
To follow his dreams

          C G
He told me son
       C G
You know I lost my true love
       C G
For the same exact reason
       D G
That you crossed the sea

[Chorus]
    G C D
And I found truth
   D Em C G
In people I barely know
       G D Em C D G
But my heart still beats for my home and my English rose
      G D Em C D G
Oh my heart still beats for my home and my English rose
      G D Em C D G
Oh my heart still beats for my home and my English rose.

Open D tuning (DADF#Ad) sounds really nice with this song if you fancy something different :)

For matching the chords to lyrics, transpose this down 5 steps and use these open D chords.
No capo!

D: 000000
G: 5x5500
A: 7x7700
Bm: x24050

It sounds nice if you drop the low E to D(the top e doesn't really need to be tuned down because you don't play it with these chords). Transpose down 5 and use these chords.

D:0002xx
G:5004xx
A:7006xx
Bm:9007xx

I also like to pick the chords rather than strumming when i play the verses.
