   VERSE

 A E
Wendy's sittin' next to me
              F#m D A
She's trying hard to drink it away
                E F#m
And I feel the rumble of the subway
              D A
Beneath the stage
                     E F#m
And her eyes are screaming
                   D A
And her lips are pursed
                    E
And this ain't her first heartache
        F#m D
But it feels like, it feels like the worst

And she says
      A E Bm A
Can someone tell me how this can happen
                  E Bm
And I guess that God only knows
     A E
My heart used to be
      Bm
The sweet shop of love
             A Bm
But now the sign on the door
          E D
It says sorry we're closed

now repeat intro chords 1x for this lead

verse 2

A E
And I hear myself tell her
          F#m D A
Some old words I know they won't help
                  E
And then I feel guilty
           F#m D
'Cause I closed some sweet shops myself
            A
And we all talk about timing
       E
And lifestyles and such
          F#m
But to a heart that's been shattered
        D
Those words don't mean that much
     A
And all of our pining
     E
It just goes to show
           F#m
Don't you enter a shop
          D
With the sign on the door sorry but i didnt feel like doin
Bm D the solo but just mess around in
Saying sorry we're closed f# minor pentatonic thats wat
A E all the lead is in
And she's been through all the pain
      F#m D
That one can endure
         A E
And her new man thinks she loves him
    F#m D
But he can't be sure
         A E
And his heart pines for Wendy
          F#m D
She says that's how it goes
       A
How am I supposed to know
          E
He can't read the sign saying
  Bm D A E
Sorry we're closed
            F#m D
Yeah we're closed

And she says
      A E Bm A
Can someone tell me how this can happen
                  E Bm
And I guess that God only knows
     A E
My heart used to be
     Bm
The sweet shop of love
               A Bm
But there's a sign on the door
           A D
There's a sign on the door (3 x's) enjoy let me know how it is!!!
One more sign...

Every tab on this site for this song is wrong. If you'd like the correct tab, please check http://www.embholycity.com .
They have the correct chords.

this tab is great, but one chord change that brings it much closer to the studio version and the live performance vids found on YouTube is the E chord.

Instead of:
022100

play E/G# maj
4x2450

EM loves this chord, you'll find this position in I'll Be as well.
