This isn't exactly how it's played but it is a very easy way of playing it
and in my opinion, it sounds just as good! It can be played Capo 5 or No
Capo depending on which you prefer. It basically sounds the same!

Capo:5th

[Intro] Em, D, G, Cadd9, G, D

[Verse]

   Em D G
Way back on the radio dial,
       Cadd9 G D
the fire got lit inside a bright-eyed child.
   Em D G
Every note just wrapped around his soul,
        Cadd9 G D
from steel guitars to Memphis, all the way to rock and roll.

[Chorus]

Cadd9 G Em D
Ohhh, I can hear em playin.
   Cadd9 G Em D
I can hear the ringin of a beat up ol' guitar.
Cadd9 G Em D
Ohhh, I can hear em singin,
   Cadd9 G D G
"Keep on dreamin, even if it breaks your heart."

[Intro] Em, D, G, Cadd9, G, D

[Verse]

   Em D G
Downtown where I used to wander.
   Cadd9 G D
Old enough to get there but too young to get inside.
  Em D G
I would stand out on the sidewalk,
   Cadd9 G D
listen to the music playin every Friday night.

[Chorus]

Cadd9 G Em D
Ohhh, I can hear em playin.
   Cadd9 G Em D
I can hear the ringin of a beat up ol' guitar.
Cadd9 G Em D
Ohhh, I can hear em singin,
   Cadd9 G D G
"Keep on dreamin, even if it breaks your heart."

[Intro] Em, D, G, Cadd9, G, D

[Verse]

   Em D G
Some dreams stay with you forever,
   Cadd9 G D
drag you around but bring you back to where you were.
   Em D G
Some dreams keep on gettin better,
   Cadd9 G D
gotta keep believin' if you wanna know for sure.

[Chorus]

Cadd9 G Em D
Ohhh, I can hear em playin.
   Cadd9 G Em D
I can hear the ringin of a beat up ol guitar.
Cadd9 G Em D
Ohhh, I can hear em singin,
   Cadd9 G D G
"Keep on dreamin, even if it breaks your heart."

[Chorus]

Cadd9 G Em D
Ohhh, I can hear em playin.
   Cadd9 G Em D
I can hear the ringin of a beat up ol guitar.
Cadd9 G Em D
Ohhh, I can hear em singin,
   Cadd9 G D G
"Keep on dreamin, even if it breaks your heart."
   Cadd9 G D G
Keep on dreamin, even if it breaks your heart.

This sounds great but the only change I wanted to make was on the chorus when the lyrics are " Cadd9 G Em D
Ohhh, I can hear em playin."
It's sounds much better if you switch where you play the Em and the D. And do that in the 3rd line on all the chorus parts. so it would be played like
Cadd9 G D Em
Ohhh, I can hear em playin.

I don't know how it's really supposed to go but for some reason, ending a chord progression on a D always makes it sound unfinished and sloppy.

I love this tab, I do think it does sound much better with D and Em interchanged. Brilliant tab, regardless! :)

I agree that the D and Em do sound better interchanged.
The only other correction I could offer would be to change the chords at the end of the chorus to:
Cadd9 G D C
"Keep on dreamin, even if it breaks your heart."
The C sounds much better at the end of the chord progression
