Intro-guitars :

E C#m E
You never asked me what I wanted. You only asked me why.

C#m E C#m E B E
I never thought that so much trouble was a restin' on my reply,
        A E
I could say it was the nights when I was lonely
    A C#m
and you were the only one who'd come.
                                                                BASS COMES IN...
G|-----------------------------------------------------------|------------------|
D|-----------------------------------------------------------|------------------|
A|-----------------------------------------------------------|------------------|
E|-----------------------------------------------------------|--------000-22-44-|

I could tell you that I like your sensitivity, when you know it's the way that you walk.

G|--------------------------------------------------------------------------4---|
D|--------2--------------------2--------------------2---------------------------|
A|-0-0--4---4-2----------0-0-4---4-2-4---2-3-4--0-4---4-2----------------2------|
E|--------------0--0-2-4---------------4------------------0-0-2-4-222222--------|

Why do you have to say that there's always someone who can do it better than I can?
But don't you think that I know that walking on the water won't make me a miracle man?

G|---2---------------------2---------------------2------------------------------|
D|-----4-2-------2------------4-2---2-----2---------4-2-------2-----------------|
A|-0-------4-2-----4-2--0---------4---2-4---4--0--------4-2-----4-2--0-2-222222-|
E|-------------0--------------------------------------------0-------------------|

Baby's gotta have the things she wants. You know she's gotta have the things she loves.
She's got a ten-inch bamboo cigarette holder and her black patent leather gloves.

G|------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
D|---2-----------------2-------------2------------------------------------------|
A|-------234-4---2-4------234-2-4-------234---2-4-----2-2-----------------------|
E|-0---4-------4-----0--4----------0--4-----4-----0-0-----0----000-22-44--------|

And I'm doing everything just tryin' to please her, even crawling around on all fours.
Oh, I thought by now that it was gonna be easy, but she still seems to want for more.

G|--------------------------------------------------------------------------4---|
D|--------2--------------------2--------------------2---------------------------|

E|--------------0--0-2-4---------------4------------------0-0-2-4-222222--------|

Why do you have to say there there's always someone
Who can do it better than I can?
But don't you think that I know that walking on the water
Won't make me a miracle man?
Oh yeah

G|---2---------------------2---------------------2------------------------------|

Yeah they're givin' you a bad reputation just because you've never
been denied. You try to say you've done it all before. Baby, you know
that you just get tired.

G|------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
D|---2-----------------2-------------2------------------------------------------|
A|-------234-4---2-4------234-2-4-------234---2-4-----2-2-----------------------|
E|-0---4-------4-----0--4----------0--4-----4-----0-0-----0----000-22-44--------|

Yet everybody loves you so much, girl. I just don't know how you stand the strain.
Oh, but I'm the one who's here tonight, and I don't wanna do it all in vain.

G|--------------------------------------------------------------------------4---|
D|--------2--------------------2--------------------2---------------------------|
A|-0-0--4---4-2----------0-0-4---4-2-4---2-3-4--0-4---4-2----------------2------|

  Outro - (repeats and fades)

The use of open strings in a bass piece, while creating an easier and simpler way to play it, takes away from the flow completely and has no substance. Get a good book on creating baselines and continue to work with your instructor.
