Artist: Everlast
Song: The Crown
Album: Songs of the Ungrateful Living (2011)
Writers: Erik Schrody [Everlast], Darius Holbert
Tab by maccartm

This is a great song by Everlast, fun and easy to play along to. I was surprised
that the chords weren't already listed on the site, so I decided to go ahead
and do it.

I figured this out by ear using the record version. Refer to this video
( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSnZ6AMrIZU ) if you need help with the
strumming pattern or simply listen to the record version.

Some chords will seem to be listed twice, this is because you will go
through the strum pattern once every time a chord is listed.

The chord changes are listed where I think they should go/where you will
hit the bass notes of the chord for the first down stroke, but you should
be able to figure it out by ear easily enough.

Intro:

C G E Am F C G G [x2]

Verse 1:

       C
With a soft underbelly,
      G
and a hardened heart,
             E Am
they say you gotta be tough if you ain't that smart,
       F C G G
I'm sittin here alone, waitin for my phone to ring.

C
  Run outta time,
G
  run outta hope,
    E Am
the boys on the corner never run outta dope,
    F C G G
I keep myself high, so I can keep doin' my thing.

          C
They say,
             G
stupid is as stupid does,
       E Am
and everything's the same as it ever was,
  F C G G
I drink myself blind tryin' to find a new song to sing.

C
  Time is money,
G
  Money talks,
    E Am
Bartender pour me one more whiskey on the rocks,
        F C G G
while I try to understand, why every man wants to be king.

Chorus:

Am Am G G
Heavy is the head that wears the crown.
Am Am G G
Everybody, kicks you when you're down.
Am Am G G
Laugh for now, later you can frown.
Am Am F G
Heavy is the head that wears the crown.

Verse 2:
       C
With a sweet disposition,
       G
and an iron will,
  E Am
a couple nice cars, and a house on a hill,
   F C G G
my bank account's full but my soul's still empty and cold.

        C
All the money and the clothes,
        G
and the sold out shows,
      E Am
don't mean a damn thing when nobody knows you,
         F C G G
and your home is just a house when you're sittin' there alone and you're old.

         C
I heard, love is a game,
         G
I heard love is a rock,
        E Am
I heard love is a house on a dead end block,
        F C G G
but the ending keeps changin' every time, the story gets told.

C
Some pray for money,
G
some pray for rain,
    E Am
and some are just are just prayin' for relief from the pain,
    F C G G
and some of us'll buy just 'bout anything we can be sold.

Chorus:

Am Am G G
Heavy is the head that wears the crown.
Am Am G G
Everybody, kicks you when you're down.
Am Am G G
Laugh for now, later you can frown.
Am Am F G
Heavy is the head that wears the crown.

Bridge:

F F C G [x2]

Verse 3:

      C
I'm a mean old dog,
      G
got a big old gun,
      E Am
I'm a proud new papa, I'm an only son,
      F C G G
I'm a beggar I'm a thief I'm a liar and a cheater too.

          C
I've been around the block,
          G
I've been around the sun,
          E Am
I've been up, I've been down, I've been over and done,
              F C G G
I've seen the bottom of the pile and the mountaintop, either will do.

Chorus: (I like playing it muted to match the song beat at this point, but just strumming sounds fine too)

Am Am G G
Heavy is the head that wears the crown.
Am Am G G
Everybody, kicks you when you're down.
Am Am G G
Laugh for now, later you can frown.
Am Am F G
Heavy is the head that wears the crown.
