[Verse 1]
D G D G
In the morning on the train you sit and stare out at the rain

D G A
or bury yourself in your books

A D G D G
Don't look at no strangers, no don't give them any looks.

D G
Well you ask yourself why you're so afraid,

D G
why you hesitate when someone asks your name.

D G A
But they'll come too close if you tell them the truth.

A D G D G
Who's to say they want something from you?

[Chorus]
C A D G
Well you're just a shell of your former you.

C A D G A D G D G
That stranger in the mirror, oh, that's you. Why do you look so blue?

[Verse 2]
        D G D G
And the only man you ever loved, who thought was going to marry you

D G D G A
Died in a car accident when he was only twenty-two

A D G D G
Then you just decided love wasn't for you.

A D G D G
And every year since then has proved it to be true.

[Chorus]

C A D G
Now you're just a shell of your former you.

C A D G A D G D G
That stranger in the mirror, oh, that's you. Why do you look so blue?

[Bridge]
Em A D G
Maybe tomorrow you will make a change.

Em A D G
Maybe some day soon you will find the strength.

[Chorus]
C A D G
Well you're just a shell of your former you.

C A D G A D G D G x2 D
That stranger in the mirror, oh, that's you. Why do you look so blue?
