[Verse]

G Cadd9 G Cadd9
Never thought that I was weak
D C
Always thought I could get hurt pretty bad
         C G Cadd9 G Cadd9
Standing up on my own two feet
G Cadd9 G Cadd9
I always believed that I was free
       D C
That I had some sense of integrity
           D C G Cadd9 G Cadd9
That would rise above whatever tried to change me

[Chorus]

               Em C G
But honey, now I won't wait
Em C G
For something to bring me round and smile
Em C G
Cause that only sticks for a while
              D
Then I'm back again
C G Cadd9 G Cadd9
  Oh, I'm a master pretender

[Interlude]

G Cadd9 G Cadd9
G Cadd9 G Cadd9

[Verse]

G Cadd9 G Cadd9
I always knew that I was young
           D C C G Cadd9 G Cadd9
But with a head held high, and a sharp tongue I could fool 'most anyone
G Cadd9 D
I never expected to be struck
       D C C G Cadd9 G Cadd9
By the fatal hands of fortune or by sheer bad luck

[Chorus]

               Em C G
But honey, now we won't change
Em C G
  And memories just rearrange
    Em C G
And fall into place
            D
So I'm back again
C G Cadd9 G Cadd9
  Oh, I'm a master pretender

[Middle8]

       C G
Oh the streets of New York City
C G D
Sure look pretty from way up here
    C G
And I was headed home
C G D
just found more alone the further I'd go

[Verse]

G Cadd9 G Cadd9
I always thought that you'd be here
    D C C G Cadd9 G Cadd9
But shit gets fucked up and people just disappear

[Chorus]

              Em C G
So honey, now, don't be mad
Em C G
Time has told me it can't be that bad and if it is,
Em C G
  well, I'll be goddamned
           D
I'll stick around
C G Cadd9 G Cadd9
  I'll be your master defender
                 D
Yeah, I'll stick around
C G Cadd9 G Cadd9
I'll be your master defender

[Outro]

G Cadd9 G Cadd9
G Cadd9 G Cadd9
G Cadd9 G Cadd9
G Cadd9 G Cadd9
G Cadd9 G Cadd9
G Cadd9 G Cadd9

Nice tab. There's a walk down bass in the chorus on the low E string, G,Gb,E, but apart from that perfect. Good job.

I think the D chord is a D/F# with the bass on the 6th string .

This is what I use for the D chord. Sounds nice with the open A string if singing solo acoustic.
