Song: GROWN OCEAN
Artist: Fleet Foxes
Album: "Helplessness Blues" [2011]

Tabbed by: Devin Miller (www.youngpacific.ca)

Tuning: Open D6 (DADF#Bd)
Capo: 3rd fret

CHORD REFERENCE:

    F Bb6 F7M
e|--0----2----4----|
B|--3----3----5----|
G|--0----1----3----|
D|--0----0----0----|
A|--0----2----4----|
E|--0----0----0----|

For the intro, mess with the F chord with a single finger by making
these shapes:

e|-0---0---0---0---|
B|-3---2---0---2---|
G|-0---0---0---3---|
D|-0---0---0---0---|
A|-0---0---0---0---|
E|-0---0---0---0---|

He usually does this between the verses, as well.

[Verse]

Bb6
In that dream I'm as old as the mountains

Still as starlight reflected in fountains
F
Then
Bb6
Children grown on the edge of the ocean

Bred like jewelry kept with devotion

F Bb6
In that dream moving slow through the morning time

(Hammer on the Bb6 chord like this)
e|-2----2-2----2--|
B|-3----3-3----3--|
G|-1----0-0h1--0--|
D|-0----0-0----0--|
A|-2----0-0h2--0--|
E|-0----0-0----0--|

Bb6
You would come to me then without answers
                                         F
Lick my wounds and remove my demands for now
Bb6
Eucalyptus and orange trees are blooming

In that dream there's no darkness a-loomin'
F Bb6 (play with it)
In that dream moving slow through the morning time

Bb6 F7M
In that dream I could hardly contain it!

Bb6 F7M
All my life I will wait to attain it

Bb6
Iiiiiiiiitttt!

    Bb6
And I know someday the smoke will all burn off
                                              F
All these voices I'll someday have turned off then
    Bb6
And I will see you someday when I've woken

I'll be so happy just to have spoken
F
I'll have so much to tell you about it
Bb6 (hammer-ons)
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Bb6 F7M
In that dream I could hardly contain it!
Bb6 F7M
All my life I will wait to attain it
Bb6
Iiiiiiiiitttt!
       F (play with the chord)
Oooooooh!

Wide-eyed walker
Don't betray me
I will wake one day
Don't delay me
Wide-eyed leaver
Always going

The chord labeled Fm7 here actually spells out Fmaj9. Just in case anyone wants to play this in any other tuning.

This is amazing, I would never have the ear to figure this out. It's an odd tuning, but it's made perfect in this song. Thanks so much!

AMAZING. They used this same tuning for "Helplessness Blues"...
