Tuning: open D6 DADF#Bd
Capo: 3rd Fret

Chords relative to capo.
All of the chords are finger picked
Verse: This is the order the chords are played in for the verse. I wrote the
lyrics with the number of the chord above where it is played.

I tabbed this guys video, check it out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-JYNUvG2rAk
1) 00232x
2) 2222xx
3) 00232x
4) 04232x
5) 05000x
6) 04222x
7) 02000x
8) 2222xx
9) 000000
10) 2222xx -> 2422xx -> 2522xx hammer on 4th and 5th fret using same picking pattern

1 2 3
So now I am older,
4 5
Than my mother and father,
6 7
When they had their daughter,
8 9 10
Now what does that say about me.
1 2 3
Oh how could I dream of,
4 5
Such a selfless and true love,
6 7
Could I wash my hands of?
8 9 10
Just looking out for me

D |---------------------| finger pick the open strings along
B |---------------------| with this bass line
F# |----------------2-2-2| then play the 10th chord from the verse on "me"
D |----------------2-2-2|
A |5-4-2-----4-2-0-2-4-5|
D |------4-2-------2-2-2|

Oh man what I used to be
Oh man oh my oh me (x2)

The rest of the verses and choruses follow the same pattern.

In dearth or in excess
Both the slave and the empress,
Will return to the dirt I guess,
Naked as when they came.
I wonder if I'll see,
Any faces above me,
Or just cracks in the ceiling,
Nobody else to blame.

Oh man what I used to be,
Oh man oh my oh me (x2)

Gold teeth and gold jewelry
Every piece of your dowry
Throw them into the tomb with me
Bury them with my name.
Unless I have someday,
Ran my wandering
In my underway

Oh man what I used to be
Montezuma to tripoli
Oh man oh my oh me

Here's a transition between 1 and 4 to replace 2 and 3. Robin actually plays something like this in a BBC version of the song. I pick the bass notes with my thumb and the 4 with my ring finger. The timing is to pick the bass note on the first chord on the 'ol' syllable in older, or 'self' in selfless in the context of the song. Hope this makes sense.

The lyrics at the end of the last verse go:

"Unless I have someday ran my wandering mind away" not (ran my wandering in my underwear).
