Tuning
D# G# C# F# A# D#
The song is tuned down a half-step, but you can play it normal and it sounds pretty
It's in 6/8 and the key of C (well, B once it's tuned down, but you get the idea)

[Intro]

Am / D7 / G / Em

[Verse 1]

Am D7 G Em
Wanderers this morning came by
Am D7 G F C
Where did they go, graceful in the morning light
   F C
To banner fair
   F G
To follow you softly in the cold mountain air

[Verse 2]

Am D7 G Em
Through the forest and down to your grave
Am D7 G F C
Where the birds wait and the tall grasses wave
F C
They do not
F G
Know you anymore

[Interlude]

 Am / D7 / G / Em / Am /
/ G / F / C (keep strumming C)

[Chorus]

C F G C
Dear shadow alive and well
C F G
How does the body die
    C D7 G
You tell me everything, anything true

[Verse 3]

Am D7 G Em
In the town one morning I went
Am D7 G F C
Staggering through premonitions of my death
F C F G
I don't see anybody that dear to me

[Chorus]

C F G C
Dear shadow alive and well
C F G
How does the body die
    C D7 G
You tell me everything, anything true
Em Am
Jessie
C Bb C
I don't know what I have done
Bb C Bb C
I'm turning myself into a demon
C Bb C
I don't know what I have done
Bb C Bb C
I'm turning myself into a demon

[Outro]

Am / D7 / G / Em

These chords are good except for the D7 which is supposed to be a F# half diminished 7th. This can easily be played after an A minor, simply just move your middle finger to the F# on the sixth string, leaving your index and ring finger in the A minor position

instead of the D7. Also, pick out the chords in their barred form. You will pick up on some of the nuances of the song this way...

You can also play this song with these chords with a capo on 4. fret. You can check out "First Aid Kit" with their cover on Youtube of this song.
