Guiding light
Foy Vance
Capo at 4th Fret

A beautiful melodic song by Foy Vance. Not the proper chord names, I know, but, if
like me you love this song and want to get playing it then follow my guide and
feel free to improve it and let me know. My first attempt derived from listening
to the song (so go easy on me!

The 'D1' chord can also be played by sliding the 'D' cord up two frets.

   D D1 D
Well the road is wide,
   D A A1 A
and waters run of either side,
   A E E1 E
and my shadow went with fading light,
    E A A2
stretching out towards the night.

   D D1 D
'Cause the Sun is low,
   D A A1 A
and I yet have still so far to go,
   A E E1 E
my lonely heart is beating slow,
    E A A2
tired of the wonder,

   D D1 D
there's a sign ahead,
   D A A1 A
but I think it's the same one again,
   A E E1 E
and I'm thinking 'bout my only friend,
    E A A2
and so I find my way home.

D D1 D A
When I need to get home
A A1 A E
you're my guiding light,
  E E1 E A A2
you're my guiding light.

D D1 D A
When I need to get home,
A A1 A E
you're my guiding light,
  E E1 E A
you're my guiding light.

   D D1 D
Well the air is cold,
   D A A1 A
and yonder lies my sleeping soul,
   A E E1 E
by the branches broke like bones,
    E A A2
this weakened tree no longer holds

   D D1 D
but the night is still,
   D A A1 A
and I have not yet lost my will,
   A E E1 E
and so I will keep on moving 'till,
    E A A2
'till I find my way home.

D D1 D A
When I need to get home
A A1 A E
you're my guiding light,
  E E1 E A A2
you're my guiding light.

D D1 D A
When I need to get home,
A A1 A E
you're my guiding light,
  E E1 E A
you're my guiding light.

I think I've figured out the 100% correct way. I'll try to post it later today or tomorrow.

... Maybe i'm missing something, but this seems entirely incorrect to me. D1 does not in any way sound correct. Very annoying because it's the only tabs/chords for this I could find..
