please rate this, I really appreciate it.

intro: D, G, D, G, Em, D x2

specific chords to play melody as well: (watch here for rhythm -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtCoaEDSwek)

    D G
e|--2--2--3--0--0--|
B|--3--0--3--3--3--|
G|--2--2--0--0--0--|
D|--------0--4--2--|
A|--------2--2--0--|
E|--------3--3--3--|

D G
Let me tell you all a little story of the things I've found,
D G
Hanging out and drinking with my friends in the cathedral grounds,
D G
And later dodging drunks as we dance along Jewry Street,
D G
As we wander up town to the railway our friends to meet,

        D Em7
There's something about coming back to your hometown again,
     G
The place where you grew up and where you found your firmest friends,
           D Em7
And though none of them still live here, I've got nowhere to go,
      G D
I'm a Wessex Boy and when I'm here I'm home

Melody: (or on one guitar repeat the intro x2)
e|--10--7-----------------|
B|----------10--7--5--3---|
G|------------------------| x4
D|------------------------|
A|------------------------|
E|------------------------|

D G
Let me tell you all a little story of the things I've lost,
D G
Huddling for warmth on the top step of the Buttercross,
  D G
Sitting on the benches by the bridges at the riverside,
D G
Of counting down the hours for the buses cause I missed my ride

        D Em7
There's something about coming back to your hometown again,
     G
The place where you grew up and where you found your firmest friends,
           D Em7
And though none of them still live here, I've got nowhere to go,
      G Bm
I'm a Wessex Boy, a Wessex boy and when I'm here I'm home

                    G Em7 D
And one day I will hear this song anonymous and sweet,
        Bm G Em7 D
Ringing out from a buskers guitar on the ancient city streets,
      Bm G Em7 D
I'll pause a while and smile before I continue on alone,
     Em7 G
And somebody else will sing the words and I'll feel like I'm home

the 0's here are played fast and quietly (you could probably go without them)

e|--10--7---------------------------------------------------------|
B|----------10---------7--5--3---------3---------------7--5-------|
G|--------------(0-0)-----------(0-0)-----4--2---------------7----|
D|----------------------------------------------(0-0)-------------| x3
A|----------------------------------------------------------------|
E|----------------------------------------------------------------|

play this or the intro during the ba ba ba's:

e|--10--7-----------------|
B|----------10--7--5--3---|
G|------------------------| x4
D|------------------------|
A|------------------------|
E|------------------------|

         D Em7
There's something about hometowns you never can escape
     G
The triumphs and the tragedies, the tawdry little fates
      D Em7
The welling of nostalgia, the feeling kinda strange
       G
Cause despite all the little changes, this place still feels the same

         D Em7
There's something about coming back to your hometown again,
     G
The place where you grew up and where you found your firmest friends,
           D Em7
And though none of them still live here, I've got nowhere to go,
      G D
I'm a Wessex Boy, a Wessex boy and when I'm here I'm home

outro part 1: same as intro

outro part 2:
e|-----------------|
B|--7--5--3--3--3--|
G|-----------------| x8
D|-----------------|
A|-----------------|
E|-----------------|

Lack of accuracy. Clearly wrong.

Care to explain where the lack of accuracy is? The song is just basic chords, and these are correct.

Not sure if it's right, but I've been playing it like this. It's almost the exact same as the OP's version, but i just tweaked the G a bit so, when playing acoustic, it brings out the melody a bit more. And the "x" on the A string is pretty much optional; it sounds alright with an open A string as well.
