This tab is my best attempt at playing the song, since it's hard to distiguish
the overlapping banjo and guitar parts and he varies the notes he picks. The intro
and verses are picked and the chorus is strummed using the chords below. I placed
chord names over the picked parts to give an idea of the hand placement and as a
reference to their position in the lyrics. Any corrections or comments would be
greatly appreciated it.

Am C
October's got those orange eyes,
    G Am/F
But somehow I still lost sight.
Am C
When you lifted the lid off of
   G Am/F
My pumpkin head, and kissed me goodnight.
Am C
Should it be a thorn in my side,
   G Am/F
We never quite broke that horse.
Am C
She slept in the cul-de-sac rye,
G Am/F
Seven miles from my front porch.

::Repeat Intro::

VERSE 2 (picking):
Am C
Bundle up and come with me now,
G Am/F
Down the road to the burnt down barn.
Am C
We could make a blanket of coats,
    G Am/F
And breathe our souls into the neighbors front lawn.
Am C
But oh god that look in your eye,
G Am/F
Trouble that does not search words.
Am C
It sprung from the biblical vine,
        G Am/F
And are waiting to return to the dirt.

::Repeat Intro::

CHORUS (strum chords):
    Am C/G
The stitches in your winter clothes,
     G6
Your cello bows,
   Am/F
We stole your hair to make them.
      Am C/G
We're sorry for the iron shoes,
   G6
We nailed to you,
    Am/F
And stuck you in the rain alone.
Am C/G G6
   You sprinted away, sprinted away,
                 Am/F
To where I don't know.
Am C/G
But God's moving in your bloodstream
          G6 Am/F
Where the cross beats aren't so slow.

Repeat Intro (play 1st line 3x):

VERSE 3 (picking):
Am C
You swept all the red from my cheeks,
  G Am/F
I didn't hear you come back inside.
Am C
And light up the gas in the den,
    G Am/F
And stand there in the thin winter light.
Am C
But oh god that curve in your spine,
  G
A question mark.
  Am/F Am C
A doctor sign was framed by the windowsill,
        G Am/F
And you saw something I did not in the night.
Am C G Am/F
You saw something I did not in the night.

Great tab! I had problems with Am/F so I tuned my low e string up a half step and went from there! Made life easier
