2nd fret
Standing Outside the Fire - Garth Brooks (Yates/Brooks)
capo 2nd fret

G C9 G C9

We call them cool
                  C9 G
Those hearts that have no scars to show
              Bm C
The ones that never do let go
             Am D D2 D4 D
And risk the tables being turned

(same chord progression)
We call them fools
Who have to dance within the flame
Who chance the sorrow and the shame
That always comes with getting burned

        Em7 D
But you got to be tough
     C G
When consumed by desire
      Em7 D C D G C9 G C9
Cause its not enough just to stand outside the fire

(same chords as before)
We call them strong
Those who can face this world alone
Who seem to get by on their own
Those who will never take the fall

We call them weak
Who are unable to resist
The slightest chance love might exist
And for that forsake it all

           Em7 D
They're so hell bent on giving
C G
Walking a wire
   Em7 D C D G
Convinced it's not living when you stand outside the fire

C D G
Standing outside the fire
C D G
Standing outside the fire
Em7 D G C
Life is not tried, it is merely survived
          Am D G
If you're standing outside the fire

There's this love that is burning
Deep in my soul
Am G
Constantly yearning to get out of control
Wanting to fly
Higher and higher
Am Bm C D NC
I can't abide standing outside... the fire

Nice percussion solo (or just play G) then back to the chorus

This version is close, and inspired me to submit ver 3. Agree that it's definitely easier to play this with capo on 2nd fret. Seems like this was just sort of a rough transposition of version 1 (and I think some of the chords are close but wrong) - I tried to be a little more literal with some of the walks and progressions in v3.
