[Intro]
   Bm F#m/A Em7 F#m F#m7 F#m
| / / / / | / / / / | / / / / | / / / / |

[Verse 1]
Bm F#m/A Em7 F#m F#m7 F#m
    Many, too many have stood where I stand, | / / / / |
Bm F#m/A Em7 F#m
    Many more... will stand here too, | / / / / |
E B/D# C#m
I think what I find strange is the way ...you built me up,
       F/C F E6
Then knocked me down a - gain!

[Verse 2]
                 (Bm)

B|--------------|-----
G|--------------|-----
D|--2--1--------|-----

Bm F#m/A Em7 F#m
       Why can't I just leave the stage? | / / / / |
E B/D# C#m
Maybe that's be - cause you securely locked me up,
      F/C F
Then threw a - way the key!

[Chorus]
C Dm7/C C Dm7/C
Oh, momma, please would you find the key?
C Dm7/C C Dm7/C
Oh, pretty momma, please, won't you let me go free?
   C Em/B A Em7
| / / / / | / / / / | I thought I was lucky,
A Em7 A Em7 F#

Bm F#m/A Em7 F#m F#m7 F#m

Bm F#m/A Em7 F#m
    That I thought led to the straight, | / / / / |
E B/D# C#m
You set me on a firmly laid, and simple course,
    F/C F
And then re - moved the road!

[Chorus]
C Dm7/C C Dm7/C

Suggestion for ending:
On the repeat of the instrumental coda instead of going to the E6,
sing the chorus again, and then, after the F#, finish on a Bm.

Playing the song today, I realized that the link between verses should actually be:

1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 1
D|--------2-1-----|
A|------------4-3-|2

(hope this comes out correctly formatted ...

The B in the verses between the E and the C#m could be a B/D#.

Again - great transcription!!
