Artist: Genesis
Song: More fool me
Album: Selling England by the pound
Tabbed by: DJ

The song sounds to be played on a couple of 12 strings, which
are not quite in tune with each other, I assume deliberately
to give a slight chorus effect.
They're not in concert pitch either, but mid-way between pitchs,
in open E tuning.
This is my version in standard tuning, the chord voicings will
not sound exactly the same as the record but are pretty close.

N.B.
For the live 'Genesis Archive 1967-75' version they perform
it a semi-tone up from the original album version. So that's
capo at 4th, and tune sharp by approx. +25.

If you want to play along with the original studio recording,
use a chromatic tuner, tune all strings up by approx. +30

CAPO: 3rd fret (Sounds in approx. key of Bb)

Chord names and fret positions are relative to the capo:

[Verse 1]
 G Dsus2/F# Em7
Here am I, who while away the mornings since you've gone,
Am Em D7sus4 D7
Too long have I lay alone, not knowing which way to turn!

[Verse 2]
      G Dsus2/F# Em7
And there you are, quite sure you were right, ummm,
Am Em D7sus4 D7
Knowing full well, that I'd be the first one to go down!

[Verse 3]
    Fmaj7 Cmaj7
And you'd be the one who was laughing,
     Dm7 C
Ex - cept when things weren't going your way,
             Cmaj7
And then the lady would say...
              Bm7 Em7 Am Am7 D
...That she'd had e - nough ...wandering around on her own!

[Verse 4]
     G Dsus2/F#
The day you left,
                             Em7
Well, I think you knew you'd not be back, ummm,
Am Em
Well, at least it would seem that way,
            B7sus4 B7
Because you never said good - bye,
     Em7 Em6
But, when it comes 'round to you and me,
    Cmaj7 G
I'm sure it will work out al - right!

[Verse 5]
    Fmaj7 Cmaj7
And you'd be the one who was laughing,
     Dm7 C
And giving me something I don't need,
                    Cmaj7
And, you know, I'd always hold you,
     Bm7 Em7 B7sus4 B7
And keep you warm ...oh, more fool me!

[Verse 6]
         Em7 Em6 Cmaj7
Ah, but when it comes 'round to you and me, I ask myself,
      Em7 Em6
Do I really believe in your love?
              Cmaj7 G
Umm, yes, I'm sure it will work out al - right!

I printed out your version of this song a couple years ago and it was spot on... This version is not. Why'd you change it?

Hello KG,
As you say, this tab has been posted for a few years now, and I can't recall why it was changed. I do periodically revise and try and improve my tabs, but this one definitely wasn't working quite right on a couple of verses.
At one point other members on UG could alter someone else's tab, but you can now select when posting to stop that, so that's what I do now with all my contributions, and it's only UG site moderators who can alter tabs then.

Verses 3 and 5 seemed to be the ones that were changed and weren't working for me either, so I've amended them to how I think they were. It's only from memory, but I hope this current version is closer to what I had originally. With the slightly off open tuning, and voicings that can't be reproduced exactly as the record without using open E tuning, I think this is as close as you'll get in standard tuning, but any suggestions for tweaking anything are always welcome.
