Hello all English speaking lovers of Georges Brassens! I am tired of having to figure
out how to play his wonderful songs all by myself, and I am not going to buy any upgrades
or guitar pro, etc., and so, I thought I would submit some tabs for my very first time.

Brassens' songs all have a bouncy "walking" bass-line, so try to separate those lower notes
from the rest of the chords when you strum for that real Brassens feel! Or just strum.
Who cares? Brassens would surely appreciate the rebellion :) As for all of trills, fills, and
nuances between chords, just follow your whims.

Le Parapluie can be played with or without a capo.

Le Parapluie (capo 1st fret)

Verse 1 (4/4 time)
N.C. G
Il pleuvait fort sur la grand route,
          E7 Am
Elle cheminait sans parapluie,
Am D7 G
J'en avais un, volé, sans doute,
         D7 G
Le matin même à un ami
Courant alors à sa rescousse
          E7 Am
Je lui propose un peu d'abri
Am D7 G
En séchant l'eau de sa frimousse
           D7 G
D'un air très doux, elle m'a dit "oui."

Chorus (slower, resembling 3/4 time)
          Am D7
Un petit coin de parapluie
contre un coin de paradis,
      Am D7 G
elle avait quelquechose d'un ange,
        Am D7
Un petit coin de paradis,
contre un coin de parapluie,
   Am           D7             G ==>(on last time, outro: G D7 G)
Je (ne) perdais pas au change, pardi!

Verse 2
Chemin faisant, que ce fut tendre,
D'ouïr à deux, le chant joli,
Que l'eau du ciel faisant entendre,
Sur le toit de mon parapluie.
J'aurais voulu, comme au déluge,
Voir sans arrêt tomber la pluie,
Pour la garder, sous mon refuge,
quarante jours, quarante nuits.

Verse 3
Mais bêtement, même en orage,
Les routes vont vers des pays,
Bientôt le sien fit un barrage,
à l'horizon de ma folie.
Il a fallu qu'elle me quitte,
Après m'avoir dit grand merci,
Et je l'ai vue toute petite,
Partir gaiement vers mon oubli.

Verse 1
Verse 2
Verse 3

Without a capo: G = Ab/G#, E7= F7, Am= Bbm, D7= Eb7
Eb7 is the reason playing with a capo is easier. Sans capo, I would recommend playing

Ab/G#: E--4 F7: E--1 Bbm: E--1 Eb7: E--6
       B--4 B--1 B--2 B--8
       G--5 G--2 G--3 G--6
       D--6 D--3 D--3 D--8
       A--6 A--3 A--1 A--6
       E--4 E--1 E--x (or 1) E--x (or 6)

This way, and in the capo version, the bouncy bass line can be played by a simple
strumming pattern:

D----x-x---x-x---x-x| etc.
For all you bass line enthusiasts:
Don't forget the salient root walk from G# to F7: G#, G, F!

Capo Sans Capo
A------- A-------
E--3-2-0 E--4-3-1

Also, the chromatic walk from Bb to C at the middle of the verses!

Capo Sans Capo
A--0-1-2 A--1-2-3
E------- E-------

Thanks for posting this beautiful song. It's just me but I play it better on a C tone instead of G, my chords would be C-A7-Dm-Dm-G7-C.
