Info:
CAPO 2nd Fret

Thanks to Andy S's version 2 tab from which most of this tab takes it shape from.

As I decided to tab this song in Standard Tuning (instead of attempting to hassle
with the typical GGD tuning), it is a compromise;

However,the essence of the Goo Goo Dolls' ringing sound can still be found in this tab
if you play it right =)

Tuning: Standard

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NB: This is my first tab. Also, I played this song with a 5 string guitar as my
little "e" string had snapped off.

In the verse of the song for the D/F chord, you may want to hammer on the G
string on the 2nd fret like this:

e|x
B|3
G|0h2
D|0
A|2
E|x

Imo, it sounds better. :D

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chords:

G (32003x)

D/F (x2023x)

C (x3203x)

Em (x2203x)

D (xx0232)

It may be easier to use your 3rd and 4th fingers here, rather than the 2nd and 3rd.

Song:

(Intro)
(Part 2)

Verse 1:

G                    D/F             C
And even though the moment passed me by
  Em           D      ||PM||     (Part 2)
I still can't turn away
G                         D/F                 C
Cause all the dreams you never thought you'd lose
     Em       D       ||PM||     (Part 2)
Got tossed along the way
G                     D/F            C
And letters that you never meant to send
   Em         D       ||PM||     (Part 2)
Get lost or thrown away

Chorus:

G                       D/F
And now we're grown up orphans
      C                Em
That never knew their names
G                   D/F
We don't belong to no one
          Em
That's a shame
G                 D/F
you could hide beside me
C            Em
Maybe for a while
Em               D/F       C
And I won't tell no one your name

And I won't tell em your name

(Intro)
(Part 2)

Verse 2:
G               D/F            C
Scars are souvenirs you never lose
    Em         D   ||PM||       (Part 2)
The past is never far
G                D/F                 C
Did you lose yourself somewhere out there
        D/F     D   ||PM||      (Part 2)
Did you get to be a star
G                     D/F              C
And don't it make you sad to know that life
   D/F        D      ||PM||     (Part 2)
Is more than who we are

Chorus 2:

You grew up way too fast
And now there's nothing to believe
And reruns all become our history
A tired song keeps playing on a tired radio
And I won't tell no one your name

(Intro)
(Part 2 "And I won't tell em your name")

And I won't tell em your name

(Intro)
(Part 2 "And I won't tell em your name")

Ow!!!!!!!
Bridge (------------random succession of chords and other jingles-----------------------)

Verse 3:

 G          D/F           C
I think about you all the time
    Em        D        ||PM||   (PART 2)
But I don't need to sing
G                      D/F          C
It's lonely where you are come back down
Em
And I won't tell em your name
