[Intro]

Fmaj7 C Cadd2 Fmaj7 C Cadd2 C Fmaj7 C

[Verse 1]

C Fmaj7
Remember when our songs were just like prayers.
     C Cadd2 Am Fmaj7
Like gospel hymns that you called in the air.
C Fmaj7
Come down come down sweet reverence,
C Cadd2 Am Fmaj7
unto my simple house and ring...and ring.

[Instrumental]

C Fmaj7
C Fmaj7
C Fmaj7
C Cadd2 Am Fmaj7
C Fmaj7 C

[Chorus]

Fmaj7 C Fmaj7
Ring like silver, ring like gold
      C Cadd2 Am Fmaj7
Ring out those ghosts on the Ohio
Fmaj7 C Fmaj7
Ring like clear day wedding bells
             C Cadd2 Am Fmaj7
We’re we the belly of the beast or the sword that fell...we'll never tell.

[Instrumental]

[Bridge]

Em Fmaj7 C Fmaj7 C
Come to me clear and cold on some sea
Em Fmaj7 C G
Watch the world spinning waves...like machines

[Verse 2]

C Fmaj7
Now I,ve been crazy couldn't you tell
        C Cadd2 Am Fmaj7
I threw stones at the stars, but the whole sky fell.
C Fmaj7
Now I'm covered up in straw, belly up on the table
         C Cadd2 Am Fmaj7
Well and drank and sang, and passed in the stable.

[Small Instrumental]

C Fmaj7 C

[Bridge Instrumental]

Em Fmaj7 C Fmaj7 C
Em Fmaj7 C G

[Instrumental]

[Verse 3]

C Fmaj7
That tall grass grows high and brown,
        C Cadd2 Am Fmaj7
Well I dragged you straight in the muddy ground
C Fmaj7
and you sent me back to where I roam
        C Cadd2 Am Fmaj7
Well I cursed and I cried, but now I know...now I know

[Small Instrumental]

C Fmaj7 C

[Verse 4]

C Cadd2 Fmaj7
and I ran back to that hollow again
    C Cadd2 Am Fmaj7
The moon was just as sliver back then
C Cadd2 Fmaj7
and I ached for my hear like some tin man
        C Cadd2 Am Fmaj7
When it came oh it beat and it boiled and it rang...it's ringing

[Small Instrumental]

C Fmaj7 C

[Chorus]

Fmaj7 C Fmaj7
Ring like crazy, ring like hell
         C Cadd2 Am Fmaj7
Turn me back into that wild haired gale
Fmaj7 C Fmaj7
Ring like silver, ring like gold
              C Cadd2 Am Fmaj7
Turn these diamonds straight back into coal.

[Instrumental]

C Fmaj7
C Fmaj7
C Fmaj7
C Cadd2 Am Fmaj7
C Fmaj7 C

I'm not sure where the Cadd2 name came from or what exactly it represents but it is a bit misleading. The Cadd2 should be something like a Cmaj9 - 320010. You can see it clearly in this youtube video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQZvvBe7r64

Also, he plays the Cs as 332010 and the Fmaj7 as x33210. The hammer-ons for both are done with the ring finger on the D and G strings respectively.

Verse 4: Replace 'hear' to 'heart' in the line "I ached for my hear like some tin man"

It's a reference to the Tin man from Wizard of Oz - He believed he had no heart or some such. (I still haven't watched it again since Primary School. Sorry)
