"As Time Goes By" is a song written by Herman Hupfeld in 1931. It became most famous in 1942 when part of it
was sung by the character Sam (Dooley Wilson) in the movie Casablanca. (From wikipedia)

This is my interpretation of the piano melody, along with some chords that I "borrowed" and modified. You can
use the melody to lead into a nice slow strumming pattern or a simple well time downstrum on each chord.

NOTE: in a couple spots I use "//" to indicate a comment I have for how you should read/play the tab

NOTE: In the last measure of the intro, you can skip the "0-2-4" and just play the C chord if you prefer.

[VERSE 1]

     Dm G Em G7
You must remember this, a kiss is still a kiss.

   C Em A7
A sigh is just a si - gh,

         D D7 G
The fundamental things apply,

    G7 C
As time goes by.

Em F G
//no words here, just play the chords or improvise a whistling tune

[VERSE 2]
     Dm G Em G7
And when two lovers woo, they still say I love you,

On that you can re - ly,

     D D7 G
No matter what the future brings,

    G7 C
As time goes by.

//Also note the chords in the chorus are slightly different from the verses

[CHORUS]
   Dm G Em G7
Moonlight and love songs, never out of date,

   C Em A7
Hearts full of passion, jealousy and hate,

  D G Em G7
Woman needs man, and man must have his mate,

  C Em A7
That no one can de - ny.

[VERSE 3]
      Dm G Em G7
It's still the same old story, a fight for love and glory,

   C Em A7
A case of do or die,

      D D7 G
The world will always wel - come lovers

    G7 C
As time goes by.
