Let Her Cry chords
Hootie And The Blowfish 1994 (Darius Rucker, Mark Bryan, Dean Felber & Jim Sonefeld)

Two guitars:

Acoustic: G D C Em

Electric: Capo V G = D, D = A, C = G, Em = Bm

    G D C
She sits alone by a lamppost
                                            G
trying to find a thought that's escaped her mind
                         D C
She says Dad's the one I love the most
                     G
his time's not far behind

                     D
She never lets me in
                            C
only tells me where's she's been
                           C /G
when she's had too much to drink
                               D
I say that I don't care I just run my hands
        C
through her dark hair then I pray to God
                       G
you gotta help me fly away

And just
        C G
Let her cry, if the tears fall down like rain
        C G Em D
Let her sing, if it eases all her pain
        C G
Let her go, let her walk right out on me
           D
And if the sun comes up tomorrow
        C G
Let her be, let her be.

G D C

G D
This morning I woke up alone

found a note standing by the phone
             C G
saying baby, maybe I'll be back some day
                         D
I wanted to look for you

You walked in I didn't know just what I should do
     C G
so I sat back down and had a beer and felt sorry for myself.

Saying...
        C G
Let her cry, if the tears fall down like rain
        C G Em D
Let her sing, if it eases all her pain
        C G
Let her go, let her walk right out on me
           D
And if the sun comes up tomorrow
        C G
Let her be, Ahhhhh.

G D
Last night I tried to leave

cried so much

I could not believe
C
she was the same girl
                    G
I fell in love with long ago

She went in the back to
         D
get high I sat down on my couch
                  C
and cried yelling oh mama please
                  G
help me won't you hold my hand.

And...
        C G
Let her cry, if the tears fall down like rain
        C G Em D
Let her sing, if it eases all her pain
        C G
Let her go, let her walk right out on me
           D
And if the sun comes up tomorrow
        C
Let her be

        C G
Let her cry, if the tears fall down like rain
        C G Em D
Let her sing, if it eases all her pain
        C G
Let her go, let her walk right out on me
           D
And if the sun comes up tomorrow
        C C /G
Let her be, ahhhh, let her be.

Chord placement isn't *quite* right, but with practice you can figure it out yourself. Thanks! Other than that, it's perfect!

Upon further review, I think the Em In the "Let her walk out on me" should be a G. With the Em in there (playing along to the song) it doesn't sound right.

also, in the "break" between the chorus and the second verse, you may want to put "G-D-C". That's if you're wanting to do something close to the original version :)
