Capo
3rd fret
This is heavily borrowing from the other tab on this site, but I think that the
chord forms sound much better with the capo on 3(I also did some other cleaning up)

Capo 3

C F Dm C G C
Born in the plains a farmer’s sons and brothers the same
F Dm C G Am E G F G
raised on promises we’d stay that way
   C F Dm C G C
As boys we believed summers at the sea we were free
    F Dm C G Am E G F G
to become men of good will side by side

              F G Am C F
And we were children then, foot prints in the sand
              F G Am C F C Am G
And where the ocean bends we made our promises. He knows.

C F Dm C G C F Dm C G Am E
Duty soon called, nineteen forty three we enrolled together we would be G G F G
our family’s pride.

             F G Am C F
And we were soldiers then, our bodies in the sand.
                F G Am C F
And like that sand through our hands, go our grandest plans.
            F G Am G F
And just to see your face for one moment I’d cross the ocean again
 C F G F G C F G
the end is not th e end.

      F C G F F C G F
And I’ll be by your side on the other side
 F C G F F C G F G
I’ll be by your side on the other side.

                  F G Am C F
And through the cloud of death we find our way back home
              F G Am C F
And though I hold your hand all must go alone
              F G Am G
And when you see the face of our maker you don’t have to be
  F C F G F G C F G
ashamed He knows the promises we made.

      F C G F F C G F
And I’ll be by your side on the other side
 F C G F F C G F
I’ll be by your side on the other side.
