he kissed her once as she leaned on the windowsill

she'll never love him but knows that her father will

breast never dries when he's hungry

the money came and she died in her rocking chair
the window wide and the rain in her braided hair
a letter locked in the pattern of her knuckle
like a hymn to the house she was making

G Am C x2

G Am C
blind and whistling just around the corner and there's a
G Am C
wind that is whispering something
G Am C
strong as hell but not hickory rooted

she kissed him once cause he gave her a cigarette
and turned around but he waits like a turned down bed
and summer left like her walking with another and a
sound of a church bell ringing

G Am C x2

the money came and he died like a butterfly
a buried star and the haze of the city lights
a gun went off and her mother dropped her baby on the
blue feathered wing - we were lucky

The first & third G in the chorus / bridge part which goes "blind and whistling" and "Strong as hell" I think is incorrect.

I play a C up two frets instead (I think its some D variant).

Great tab, thanks :) One or two things i think would make it more accurate however:
- The Am is actually an Am7 (x02010)
- The G is played 320003
- The C is correct in the verses, but say if you strum it for 2 beats, put your pinky on the B string for the first beat and then lift it off on the second beat (makes a nice run-down)
- The G isn't correct at the beginning of the 1st and 3rd lines of the chorus: I'm pretty sure it's a D variant chord, played like this 54030, like a C chord shape but up two frets.

Hey guys,

Instead of
G Am C
blind and whistling just around the corner and there's a...

The G should be replaced with this variant:

and the Am should be replaced with C.

So it should go (variant), C, G, Am.
Hope this helps for people confused by this tab!
