D riff

Em riff C riff G riff D riff
Mother don't worry, I killed the last snake that lived in a creek bed
Mother don't worry, I got some money I saved for the weekend
Mother remember being so stern about the girl who was with me
Mother remember the blink of an eye when I breathed through your body

Em riff C riff G riff D riff
So may the sunrise spring hope where it once was forgotten
Sons are like birds, flying upwards over the mountain

(Same Pattern)

Mother I made it up from the bruise of a floor of this prison
Mother I lost it, all of the fear of the Lord I was given
Mother forget me now that the creek drank the cradle you sang to
Mother forgive me, I sold your car for the shoes that I gave you

Em riff C riff G riff D riff
So may the sunrise bring hope where it once was forgotten
Sons are like birds flying upwards over the mountain

Em riff C riff G riff D riff
Mother don't worry, I've got a coat & some friends on the corner
Mother don't worry, she's got a garden we're planting together
Mother remember the night that the dog had her pups in the pantry?
Blood on the floor & the fleas on their paws and you cried 'til the morning

Em riff C riff G riff D riff
So may the sunrise bring hope where it once was forgotten
Sons are like birds flying upwards over the mountain

I found a tab some where that claims to simply use barred chords for this, thus allowing the 2nd and 3rd strings to be played open. And the D chord was listed as 55400x. Then I later saw a correction claiming that the D chord was to be played at 10-12-0-0-0-x. Anyone know?

Yeah, saw that too, I like the version posted when you're just playing alone, but you can hear in the song (especially in the intro) that the 2nd and 3rd strings are being played open. instead of 10-12-0-0-0-x I'd just go with x-5-7-0-0-0 though, seems easier. Still, I like what's posted

sounds good just playing thorough it. Although when i try to sing with the song it proves to be exceptionally difficult. Its as if there are to many syllables to go along with the chord progression. Why is this??
