Song For You Far Away
(James Taylor) 1985

People around me are at it again [ D Bm D Bm ]
God only knows how they do it [ D Bm D Bm ]
One to another then back again [ D Bm D Bm ]
Something keeps putting them through it [ D Bm Em7 A7 ]
Me, I've been watching more than fifteen years [ D Bm D Bm ]
and it hasn't changed a bit [ D Bm D Bm ]
People keep talking 'bout a different line [ D Bm D Bm ]
but it never seems to fit [ D Bm Em7 A7 ]

This is a song for you, far away, far away [ D Bm F#m Bm Em7 C A ]
This is A song for you, far away from me [ D Bm F#m Bm Em7 A D G ]
This is a song for you, far away, so far away [ D Bm F#m Bm Em7 C A ]
This is A song for you far away from me [ D Bm F#m Bm Em7 A A/D D ]

Sitting here all alone [ G G/F# Em ]
is bringing it on again, I'm gone again [ A/D D A/D D ]
Sitting here thinking of you [ G G/F# Em ]
is driving it home again, yeah [ F#m G A4 A ]
This is a song for you far away, so far away [ D Bm F#m Bm Em7 C A ]
This is a song for you, far away from me [ D Bm F#m Bm Em7 A D ]

Open the door it takes me back [ G E7 A D ]
Oh it takes me back [ Bm G Em A ]
Mention your name and I'm gone again [ Bm E7 A F#m ]
Oh, I'm gone again [ G Em A4 A ]

This is A song for you, far away from me [ D Bm F#m Bm Em7 A D Bm ]
When you're far away, talkin' 'bout far away [ Em7 A D Bm ]
far away from me [ Em7 A D Bm F#m Bm Em A D ]

Thanks for the arrangement, very nice. I'll play it a step down since the pitch is a little high for my voice. btw, I play Bm in this arrangement by removing my index finger from F# after playing the D chord and placing it on B on the A String. :-)Also, I lost my wife about 8 months ago and this is so comforting to play and sing. It describes my experience right now pretty much accurately. Thanks again for sharing.blessings in Christ, Chris Martin
