Song - Jimmy Buffett, A Pirate Looks @ 40

 (Played Moderately)

G C/G G C/G G C/G G C/G

(Chord progression is the same in V1-V8, until the end. Highlighted W/ **)

[Verse 1]

G C
Mother, mother ocean, I have heart you call, wanted to sail upon your waters
      C C/B Am7 G Am7 Bm7 Am7 G C/G G
since I was three feet tall. Youve seen it all, youve seen it all.

[Verse 2]

Watched the men who rode you, switch from sails to steam. And in your belly you hold the
that few have ever seen. Most of them dreams, most of them dreams.

[Verse 3]

Yes, I am a pirate, two hundred years too late. The cannons dont thunder, theres nothing
plunder, Im an over fourty victim of fate; arriving too late, arriving too late.

[Verse 4]

Ive done a bit of smugglin', Ive run my share of grass. I made enough money to buy
but i pissed it away so fast. Never ment to last, Never ment to last.

[Verse 5]

I have been drunk now for over two weeks, I passed out and I rallied and I sprung a few
but Ive got to stop wishin', got to go fishin' down to rock bottom again. Just a few
just a few friends.

[Verse 6]

[Verse 7]

I go for younger women, lived with several awhile, although I ran away, theyll be back
day, and still I can manage a smile. It just takes awhile, it just takes awile.

[Verse 8]

Mother, mother ocean, after all these years Ive found my occupational hazard being my
just not around **

** G Am Bm7 Am7 G Am Bm7 Am7 G D7 G
I feel like Ive drowned, gonna head up town.

The Am To Bm7 is wrong, the easiest thing is Am to D

Yes redbig it is easier, but use your ear - it is most definitely not a D chord. 40 plus years of playing here, just because it is easier doesn't make it right. Work on that ear, your fingers will follow with the right chords. Good luck.
