Jimmy Eat World - Coffee And Cigarettes

Standard Tuning

Intro: F Dm A#

Verse 1:

       F
When I finally finished school

           Dm A#
It was the first thing that I did

     F
What every townie kid dreams of,

     Dm A#
I packed and started west

     F
A thousand dollars I had saved

       Dm A#
And my sister's two cassettes:

    F
The Dead from Fillmore East

         Dm A#
And Otis Redding's Greatest Hits

Chorus:

C Dm A#
Coffee and Cigarettes

C Dm A#
As simple as it gets

C Dm A#
Of all the things I think I'll miss,

C
There's staying up with you

            Dm
Coffee and Cigarettes

            A#
Coffee and Cigarettes

Prelude: F Dm A#

Verse 2:

F
Then, I commit with some restraint

     Dm A#
To a boy I thought might care

    F
It didn't work but I found out soon

    Dm A#
And never dug roots there

F
Been a lot of places since

    Dm A#
But nothing else compares

   F
To easy times and easy eyes

    Dm A#
To meet you in a stare

Chorus:

C Dm A#
Coffee and Cigarettes

C Dm A#
As simple as it gets

C Dm A#
Of all the things I think I'll miss,

C
There's staying up with you

            Dm
Coffee and Cigarettes

            A#
Coffee and Cigarettes

Solo: A#, F, A#, F, Dm, A#, F, Dm, A#, C, F

Hold F

Verse 3:

       F
When I finally finished school

           Dm A#
It was the first thing that I did

     F
What every townie kid dreams of,

     Dm A#
I packed and started west

Nice thanks. I transpose down 3 steps here for D Bm G (Verse) and A Bm G (Chorus) and Capo 3 for my beginner skills (not so good with bars/Bb ;-) and its close if high...

Of course... you can do whatever you want... You can also try capo on 5th fret :) Verse: C, Am, F; Chorus: G, Am, F :)

Drop D is how they play it, so you can get that low D chord, but this is solid.
