Just A Closer Walk With Thee

The composer of this song is unknown but probably has it's origin
in the "Negro Spiritual" genre. It started to appear in religious
song books and hymnals in the 1940s. Jimmy Little was the first
Aboriginal professional singer in Australia, and his first hit
record "Royal Telephone" has a religious theme and sold over 75,000
records. Jimmy's rich baritone voice and his country ballad style
earned him a fifty year long career in the music industry.

The only score I have seen is in Bb, but I prefer G.

I use the A7-9 with this chord pattern: e |---3---|
                                         B |---2---|
                                         G |---3---|
                                         D |---2---|
                                         A |-------|
                                         E |-------|

INTRO: G G7 C A7-9 G D7 C G

VERSE 1
        G D G
I am weak but thou art strong, Jesus, keep me from all wrong,
        G G7 C A7-9 G D7 C G
I’ll be satisfied as long As I walk, let me walk close to thee.

CHORUS
        G D D7 G
Just a closer walk with thee, Grant it, Jesus, is my plea,
        G G7 C A7-9 G D7 C G
Daily walking close to thee, Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

VERSE 2
        G D G
Thru’ this world of toil and snares, If I falter, Lord, who cares?
        G G7 C A7-9 G D7 C G
Who with me my burden shares? None but thee, dear Lord, none but thee.

CHORUS
        G D D7 G
Just a closer walk with thee, Grant it, Jesus, is my plea,
        G G7 C A7-9 G D7 C G
Daily walking close to thee, Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

VERSE 3
        G D G
When my feeble life is o’er, Time for me will be no more,
        G G7 C A7-9 G D7 C G
Guide me gently, safely o’er To thy kingdom shore, to thy shore.

CHORUS
        G D D7 G
Just a closer walk with thee, Grant it, Jesus, is my plea,
        G G7 C A7-9 G D7 C G
Daily walking close to thee, Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.
        G D7 C G C G
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.
