HOTEL BATHROOM (UNTITLED) SONG - John Mayer
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tabbed by: Tom Padula
Email: tpadula@gmail.com

Tuning: Standard

This song is tabbed from the unreleased song many are calling "Hotel Bathroom Song"
by
John on 3/1/10 in Milwaukee. This tab is from the video on YouTube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mNhJycRTqVo

The song generally utilizes the picking pattern that John uses often (see Heart of Life,
this Train, and Who Says).
During the end of the second chorus, the bridge, the third chorus, and the outro he strums.

Lyrics, edited (courtesy of Johnnyg1986 & Styla of TryJM.com)

Verse:

Beautiful, I watch you try
To see yourself through others' eyes
The mirrors are a losing game
They only show you backwards anyway

Chorus:

The magic and the misery
Come and go so easily
But everything you'll ever be
You already are to me

Verse 2:

You were only five years old
Playing princess in your mother's clothes
Could you feel me standing next to you
With my plastic sword and playground shoes

Chorus 2:

Saying "if my dear I'm wrong somehow,
May dragons come and fell me now."
Because everything you'll ever be
You already are to me

Bridge:

Why
I don't know why
I don't know why you think you need to do it
How
I don't know how
I don't know how but
I just sit back and I see my way right through it

Verse 3:

When the memories are ten feet tall
Throwing shadows on your bedroom wall
When you pull the shades and kill the lights

Pre-Chorus:

Will you hear me singing out tonight?
Will you hear me singing out tonight?

Chorus 3:

Days are long and words are cruel
They won't get the best of you
Cause everything you'll ever be
You have always been to me, yeah yeah

Outro:

Always been to me, yeah, yeah
Always been to me, yeah
Always, oh oh
Always been to me, yeah, yeah
Always been to me

this is good except i think the last chord in the verse sounds better as:

e|---|
B|-0-|
G|-2-|
D|-0-|
A|-x-|
E|-3-|

instead of

e|---|
B|-3-|
G|-4-|
D|-0-|
A|-x-|
E|-3-|

A few different things I hear.

The picking is closer to a loose version of Neon. There isn't that "pick" n' "slap" sound to it giving it a quarter-note driven beat.

And chord-wise, the biggest difference I see is:

Bridge / Pre-Chorus

e|-x----x----x---| e|-x--x---|
B|-3----3----3---| B|-3--3---|
G|-2----2----2---| (x2) then G|-2--2---|
D|-0----2----0---| D|-0--2---|
A|-2----0----x---| A|-x--0---|
E|-x----x----3---| E|-3--x---|

Instead of the Em-F#-G climb.
