/ Joni Mitchell / I think this song is about someone being in love with
/ A Case of You / some on although they have major troubles. "I am as
/ Blue / constant as the northern star" is a quotation from
/________________/ Shakespeare's play, Julius Caesar. Caesar says it, and it
shows how egotistical and conceited he is. Maybe whomever
boyfriend is being talked about in this song is the same way, and that's causing
the troubles.

Tuning: D# G# C# G# G# D#
To help you recognize this tuning, it's really just E A D A A E (where you
tune the G-string up to an A and the B-string down to that same A), and then
drop all the strings a half step. I think it'd be called a "G#sus4-tuning".
There's also a 2nd Guitar playing, but I'm still about to tab that out.
This is Joni Mitchell's part:

I think this song is about someone being in love with some on although they have major troubles. "I am as constant as the northern star" is a quotation from Shakespeare's play, Julius Caesar. Caesar says it, and it shows how egotistical and conceited he is. Maybe whomever boyfriend is being talked about in this song is the same way, and that's causing the troubles.

"i am as constant as the northern star" ... i do not fully agree with you.. i think it means that someone in the relationship does not know what is going on and how the relationship is suffering.. as indicated by the next line "constantly in the darkness"... they don't realize that it's about to break up... ..or maybe they, the person who says that they are "constant" is trying to deceive.. saying dont worry baby, i am as constant as the northern star.. that i will always be there for you... sadly you know that they are no longer there.. they have left a bitter yet sweet impression in the memory of the other...

that's my interpretation. heh. :-) i am at work right now.. no guitar so cannot critique the tabs. :-) cheers!
