Katy Perry - Thinking of You - Live version
by Telanis
After spending an hour or so watching different recordings of Katy
Perry play this song, this is what I've come up with. I'm pretty
sure it's correct, but even if it's not perfect it's still a lot
better than any other tab I've seen for this song. You can refer
to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FltEU-VKRC8
First let's define some chords. For most chords, you should hit
the bass note alone, and then strum the full chord. You can figure
out the strumming pattern yourself, it's not too hard. Note that
each X* is essentially an open-E chord with X as the bass note.
   E A5 E* Bsus4/E B* C#m/E C#m7/E C#*
   A2 A2+6 Am A* A2/F# G#5 F#sus4+7

E* B* C#* A* E* B* C#* A*
E* B* C#* A* E* B* C#* A*

[Verse 1]
E* B*
Comparisons are easily done, once you've
C#* A*
Had a taste of perfection, like an
E* B*
Apple hanging from a tree, I picked the
C#* A*
Ripest one, I still got the seed

[Chorus Lead-in]
Bsus4/E C#m7/E A2 A2+6 A2
You said move on where do I go
Bsus4/E C#m7/E A5 G#5 Am
I guess second best is all I will know

         E A2/F#
Cos when I'm with him I am thinking of you
A2 Bsus4/E
Thinking of you What you would do, if
E A2/F#
You were the one who was spending the night
A2 Am
I wish that I was looking into your
E* B* C#* A* E* B* C#* A*

[Verse 2] (same chords as Verse 1)
[Chorus Lead-in]

C#m/E F#sus4+7
The best, and yes, I do regret, how I could
A2 A2+6 A2 A2+6
Let myself, let you go, and
C#m/E F#sus4+7
Now, now the lesson's learned - I touched and I was
A2 A2+6 A2 A2+6
Burned, oh I think you should know

E A2/F# A2 Bsus4/E
                     What you would do if
E A2/F#
You were the one who was spending the night
A2 Am
Oh I wish that I was looking into your,
E A2/F#
Your eyes, looking into your eyes, looking into
A2 Bsus4/E
Your eyes Won't you walk through and
E A2/F#
Bust in the door and take me away, yeah
A2 Am
No more mistakes, cos in your eyes I wanna
E* B* C#* A* E* B* C#* A*

This version is exactly the way she plays it live. I don't know why this only has four stars. The strumming pattern is really easy too. It's just like you said: D*D UDU UDU UDU for most of the song.

The only time it changes it when she does the "He kissed my lips, I taste your mouth." Then it becomes D*D UDU twice and then D*D UDU UDU UDU.

Then on "He pulled me in I was" is D*D UDU twice and Then it's just three down strokes (one for each note) on "disgusted with myself."

I just thought I'd mention the strumming pattern in case anyone was wondering what it is.

*Only strum the bass note on the first down stroke.
