[Intro]
A D A D

[Riff]
e|-9---9----9-9-10-9--10--10------------|
B|---10--10--------------10---10--------|
G|--------------------------------------|
D|--------------------------------------|
A|--------------------------------------|
E|--------------------------------------|

         A
We went out last night
         D
Like we swore we wouldn’t do
                A
Drank too much beer last night
       D
A lot more than we wanted to
             D E
There were girls from Argentina and Arkansas
  D E
Maine, Alabama and Panama
 D E (then maybe A then B)
All mixed together and having a ball

[Chorus]
                    D E F#
Yeah, we went went out last night

One thing started leading to another
 D E F#
Out last night

Getting to know everybody and their mother
            D E
There were two karaoke girls drunk on a dare
         D E
Singing “I Got You Babe” by Sonny and Cher
       D E
Yeah, life was good everywhere
We went out last night

[Riff]

[Verse 2]
                     A
Well you know I’m a music man
        D
I grew up in east Tennessee
                    A
Last night I was everything
        D
When I got a few drinks in me
         D E
I was a doctor, a lawyer, a senator’s son
D E
Brad Pitt’s brother and a man on the run
   D E
Anything I thought would get the job done

[Chorus]
                    D E F#
Yeah, we went went out last night

One thing started leading to another
 D E F#
Out last night

Getting to know everybody and their mother
            D E
There were people doing body shots up on the bar
         D E
Jimmy in a fist fight out by the car
       D E
Everybody was some kind of star

We went out last night

          B
Well the fact that I’m still breathing
           B
Means that I must have survived
     B B
And that I lived to go out with my friends again tonight

[Chorus]
             D E F#
Oh, We went out last night

One thing started leading to another
 D E F#
Out last night

Everybody started loving on each other
            D E
They were dancing on the tables
       D E
And howling at the moon
   D E
Pairing up together and pretty soon
  D E
There was not a soul in sight
When we went out last night

[Riff]

The lyrics are incorrect, in fact it looks like you just copied and pasted the lyrics from version one of this song on this very website, I'd bet on it.

The line, "Getting to know" should actually be, "Hittin' on".

The "riff" you have posted here is the same exact riff as posted in version one as well, which is closer as far as the chords go, but not quite correct, and KC himself plays this song with a capo at the second fret.

There are a few tings I would change.
line 7 end on the E (I think it sounds better with out the A the B).
I would also change the F# to an F#m.
After thoes changes i think the tab works well.

It's played with a CAPO on 3. The E is actually correct unlike some have mentioned. Actually, it's a capo on the 3 (which makes it into D) but instead of D it's played as a Dadd9.

At about 16 minutes in, Brett James, the co-writer of this song (who wrote with Kenny) is playing it and it's a really good quality video.
