BABY'S ARMS BY KURT VILE
OFF OF "SMOKE RING FOR MY HALO"
2011 MATADOR RECORDS

BUY HIS MUSIC AND SEE HIM LIVE, HE WILL BLOW YOUR MIND!!!!!

**TUNING**
low to high

D-B-D-F#-B-D

tune the high e down one whole step to D, along with the low E. tune the A string up one
whole step to B. tune the G string down half step to F#. i can't take credit for the
tuning, someone posted it on youtube.
i'm pretty confident this is almost right. i know it isn't 100% but it's close to the
song. the part labeled B is where i'm pretty sure i have it wrong. so if anyone gets it
correct it please.s
the picking is tricky at first, but use the general rule of your thumb for the E, A and
D, your index for the G and B and middle for the high E.

PART A

E------------------0--------------------|
B---------0-----------------0-----------|
G--1--------1------------1--------------|
D------0-------0------0--------0--------|
A--0---------------0--------------------|
E---------------------------------------|

E------------------0--------------------|
B---------0-----------------0-----------|
G--0--------0------------0--------------|
D------0-------0------0--------0--------|
A--0---------------0--------------------|
E---------------------------------------|

PART B

E------------------0--------------------|
B---------0-----------------0-----------|
G--8--------8------------8--------------|
D------0-------0------0--------0--------|
A--8---------------8--------------------|
E---------------------------------------|

E-------------------------------------|
B---------0--------------0------------|
G--3--------3-----0---------0---------|
D------0-------0------4---------0-----|
A--3---------------0------------------|
E-------------------------------------|

PART C repeats 8 the first time and 4 times in the verses

E----------------|
B-----------0----|
G--------0-------|
D-----2-------2--|
A--3-------------|
E----------------|

the order is roughly:

intro
PART A
PART B
PART C

verse
PART A
PART B
PART B
PART C

then back into the intro. just repeats after that basically. there's a break down part
that's sort of like this:

E------------------9------7------|
B---------0----------------------|
G--8--------8--------------------|
D------0-------0------0------0---|
A--8---------------8------8------|
E--------------------------------|

E---------2--------2h4----2--------|
B----------------------------------|
G--3--------3----------------0-----|
D------0-------0--------4-------4--|
A--3---------------0---------------|
E----------------------------------|

as far as the solo i sort of just do my own thing.
it's best to listen to the song or watch live videos or something (that's how i figured it out)

i apologize if this tab is confusing/terrible but i usually don't tab songs out

awesome. check nearly every day to see if anyone's tackled a Kurt Vile song and tabbed it. the more Vile the merrier.

Nice work! But how about this as a suggested picking pattern after watching the Vile vid.

PART A

D-------------------0-------------------|
B----------0-------------0--------------|
F#--1----------1-------------1----------|
D-------0--------------0----------------|
B---0--------0------0------0------------|
D---------------------------------------|

Thanks so much for the tab. A possible solo is this:

--9--/12------4-/7----0
---0----0------0-----0-
8--------0--3-------5--
-0--0--0--0--0--0--0--0
8-----0-----0----0-----
-----------------------

Also, a nice little part to add on to the end:

Towards the end of Part B, when your finger comes down on D 4, slide up:
D-4--/7--/9 Then start Part B over again.

After watching a few vids of Kurt playing this song, there is clearly no one right way.
