RUNNER UPS BY KURT VILE
OFF OF "SMOKE RING FOR MY HALO"
2011 MATADOR RECORDS

**TUNING**
low to high
F#-B-B-F#-A#-D#

tune the high E down half a step to D#. tune the B down half a step to A#. tune the G
down half a step to F#. tune the D down one and a half steps to B. tune the A up a whole
step to B. tune the E up a whole step to F#.
not sure if this tuning is correct. it sounds pretty sweet though either way as an open tuning

this song is incredible, here is my attempt at tabbing what i figured out the other day.

[Intro]
D#|-----------0------------------0----------------0----------0--------|
A#|-3----------------3--------------------3---------------------------|
F#|-------0---------------0----------0----------------0-----------0---|
B |-0-----------0----------------0------------0--------------0--------|
B |-------------------------------------------------------------------|
F#|-------------------------------------------------------------------|

D#|--------0--------0---------------0----|
A#|--3------------------------3----------|
F#|-----------0---------0-------------0--|
B |----0------------0-----------0--------|
B |--------------------------------------|
F#|--------------------------------------|

[Verse]
D#|-----------0----------------------------3------------------|
A#|-3/5--------------3----------3/5-------------5-------------|
F#|-------0---------------0-----------0--------------0--------|
B |-0-----------0---------------0------------0----------------|
B |-----------------------------------------------------------|
D#|-----------------------------------------------------------|

D#|-----------0----------------------------0------------------|
A#|-0----------------0----------3---------------0-------------|
F#|-------4---------------4-----------2--------------2--------|
B |-4-----------4---------------2------------2----------------|
B |-----------------------------------------------------------|
F#|-----------------------------------------------------------|

he plays this sort of variation of the riff sometimes
D#|-----------0----------------------------3------------------|
A#|-0h3-------------3----------3/5-------------5--------------|
F#|-------0---------------0-----------0--------------0--------|
B |-0-----------0--------------0------------0-----------------|
B |-----------------------------------------------------------|
F#|-----------------------------------------------------------|

D#|-----------0h5-------------5\3-----3p0---------------------|
A#|-0----------------0--------0------------0--3p0-------------|
F#|-------4---------------4--(4)------------------------------|
B |-4-------------------------4\2---2-------------------------|
B |-----------------------------------------------------------|
F#|-----------------------------------------------------------|

   the song ends with this
D#|-----------0-----------------|
A#|-3h5-------------5-----------|
F#|-------0-------------0-------|
B |-0-----------0---------------|
B |-----------------------------|
F#|-----------------------------|

the second guitar is in standard tuning i believe and has a CAPO on the 6th fret

this part is most likely very wrong but it's just an idea of how it goes. he probably
does a lot more and hammers on/pulls off a lot on the A or D on the 2nd fret to open.

D#|---------------------------3-----------------------------|
A#|------1~-------1~-----3/5------3~-3\1------1-------------|
F#|-0h2-----0h2---------------------------2-----------------|
B |---------------------------------------------------------|
B |---------------------------------------------------------|
F#|---------------------------------------------------------|

sorry for the crap tab. if anyone can get anything better correct this please!

This is great! I wish I could help improve this as it doesn't feel quite complete, but thanks for tabbing my favorite Kurt Vile song.

Hey really nice tab, but I think the G string should be tuned only a half step down, it sounds better to me. But thanks for your tab, I love this song!
