The riff names coorespond to the chord names of a twelve bar blues in A. Since
each riff is two measures long the progression looks like this:
| A riff | A riff | D riff | A riff | E riff | A riff |
The verse tab also follow the chords of a twelve bar blues like this.
[A verse riff]
e|-----------------| |------------------|
B|-----------------| |------------------|
G|-----2-----------| play 3 |-----2-----2------|
D|-----2-----------| times |-----2-----2------|

My tab book has this, which IMO sounds better

aznwarlord the verse part you talked about is the exact same as it's written in the tab. you're just playing the power chords in a different position. A5 and D5 can either be played at the fifth fret like you said, or down one string and in the open position. Both ways are right.
also kids, remember this is just a twelve bar blues song in a. so play the measures accordingly.
A is the I chord
D is the IV chord &
E is the V chord
those three chords cover almost, if not all of, the entire song, just with different riffs.
Twelve bar blues in A:
A | A | A | A | D | D | A | A | E | D | A | E |
