Intro: D, D/C#, Dsus/B; D, D/C#, D/B/a
    D G
If tomorrow all the things were gone I'd worked for all my life,
      Em7 C A7
And I had to start again with just my children and my wife,
     D F#m
I'd thank my lucky stars to be living here today
            Em7 Bm Bm-G
'Cause the flag still stands for freedom and they can't take that away

Chorus
         A G D
And I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free
       A G D
And I won't forget the men who died, who gave that right to me
                 Bm G F#m
And I'll gladly stand up, next to you, and defend her still to-day
             Em7 D G A D
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land, God bless the U S A.

   Intro transition

          D G
From the lakes of Minnesota, to the hills of Tennessee,
  Em7 C A7
Across the plains of Texas, from sea to shining sea,
      D F#m
From Detroit down to Houston, from New York to LA,
              Em7 Bm Bm-G
Well there's pride in every American heart, And it's time we stand and say,

          A G D
That I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free,
      A G D
And I won`t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me
                 Bm -pause- G F#m
And I'll gladly stand up, next to you and defend her still to-day,
             Em7 D G A Bm G
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land, God bless the U S A

         A G D
And I'm Proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free,
       A G D
And I won't forget the men who died, who gave that right to me,
(single notes: E F# G A B) Bm -pause- G F#m
And I'll gladly stand up, next to you and defend her still today,
             Em7 D/F# Em F#m G A D
