100 years of solitude - Levellers
From eponymous album

It like to play the song using barre chords: Bm(VII), A(V), G(III) D(V)
and Bm(II) in the "things you learnt" bit

you could use power (5th) chords. They often use "normal" open position chords live

////  ////  ////  ////
Bm | G |D |A

Bm (N.C) fade out w/vol or whatever
All around you slow decay
Wanna feel the sun of a new day
Forget all tme chances lost
Shedding innocence like falling dust

        Bm G
All the things you learned too young
    Bm G
The songs you knew but never sung
Bm G
Waited a long time and wasted more
   D A
Forgotten what you waited for

  Bm A G
Excuse me ma'am for being so rude
           D A
Feels like 100 years of solitude
   Bm A G
My mind is numb but my mouth's ok
             D A
And you can listen or walk away

Bm | G |D |A x2

Bm (N.C)
No solutions built to last
Just your petty scores to settle fast
                          G
The n.m.e was nothing to you
         D A
And the maker, well the maker of who
     Bm G
This walkman generation
   Bm G
In search of sweet sedation
      Bm G
While forests choke under a'lever sky
         D A
And the exxon birds that'll never fly

[CHORUS]

[BRIDGE] (in octaves) B D E
                      ---------------
                      ---------------
                      ---------------
                      -9\---12\---14\-
                      -x\---x-----x----
                      -7\---10\---12\-
E
We tried, we cried. We fell. We lied
                            X\\\
This life's like a white knuckle ride
(N.C) G
Crack babies born too young
   D A
And l.a. kids who dance to the gun
     Bm G
So forget this so called dirt of mine
              Bm G
It's tust the dust and diesel of passing time
     Bm G
It's all around you - a tragedy, look
      D A
So forget the cover and read the book.

[CHORUS]

Bm | G |D |A x2

I was told that 'lever sky was a reference to Unilever who produce washing powder and other chemical
unpleasantries.

The Exxon birds are the birds that were killed when teh Exxon Valdeez oil tanker spewed it's cargo
over the sea.

BTW, you can also play this in Em and use a capo to suit your voice. It's tabbed that way at
levtabs.org.uk.

cheers zodin,
acr0bat thanks for the info, since tabbing this id realised the exxon connection, but never heard of unilever. cheers.
