D G C F A D
Hello. I thought I'd have a go at one of Lewis's immense new songs from his debut album "The Morning".
This is my first tab so I apologise for any errors.

****Tuning is a full step down - DGCFAD****

I've initially done the chords in the familiar standard shape so it's easier for beginners
to reference. In this tuning the E technically drops to a D and the Asus2 drops to a Gsus2
but yeah you know what I mean.

Chord key.

E - 022100
Asus2 - X02200 - (in the verses he does a couple of strums of X02100 and X02220 live to emulate the "ooh ooooh
ooh ooh" backing vocals on the record by releasing his ring finger and hammering on with
his little finger, try it and you'll get it).
Bm - X24432
C#m - X46654.

Intro

E Asus2.

E Asus2
Bite my tongue, you wouldn't hear me anyway

E Asus2
Hold my nerve, while I wait for the fires to fade

Bm Asus2 E
I'm seeing every single word you don't say but I feel like I've seen it all

Bm Asus2 E
How come every time you ask me to stay, you're halfway gone?

                        Asus2 C#m
If this is the easy way out, then why am I finding it hard as hell

               Bm Asus2 E
I'm Wide awake waiting for sleep to steal my doubt

                           Asus2 C#m
And everything we had that hurts has come back to haunt us but ten times worse

               Bm Asus2
I'm holding on so tight it hurts

                          E
So why are we holding on?

*turnaround is the same as intro, with the E from the end of the chorus followed by the Asus2*

E Asus2
Close my eyes, am I slowly slipping away

E Asus2
If I bide my time I'll get lost like a tear in the rain

Bm Asus2 E
How come every time you ask me to stay you're halfway gone?

                        Asus2 C#m
If this is the easy way out, then why am I finding it hard as hell

               Bm Asus2 E
I'm wide awake waiting for sleep to steal my doubt

                           Asus2 C#m
And everything we had that hurts has come back to haunt us but ten times worse

               Bm Asus2
I'm holding on so tight it hurts

                          E
So why are we holding on?

Why are we holding on? x4

Repeat chorus

(last line of the song in the last chorus)

                       E
Why I can't let you go

Have fun and enjoy this beaut of a song. Davey x

Pretty spot on brother, just would say that a B major works better than a Bm in the chorus:

Asus2 C#m
If this is the easy way out, then why am I finding it hard as hell
B Asus2 E
I'm wide awake waiting for sleep to steal my doubt
Asus2 C#m
And everything we had that hurts has come back to haunt us but ten times worse
B Asus2
I'm holding on so tight it hurts
E
So why are we holding on?

Oh and I'm pretty sure that its just a regular A major in the verses and the major 2nd is sung by the singers. You can tell because Lewis sings a C# over the top of the chord, which is the third of A.

cheers dude, yeah the B major works! I did the change for the A and the singers based on an acoustic video I saw, but yeah for the studio version I fully agree.
